Abstract: An apparatus for continuously preparing substantially halogen-free, in particular chlorine-free, trialkoxysilanes of the general formula I (RO)3SiH  (I) in which R is an alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, has a main reactor unit (1), at least one metering unit (2, 3, 4) for liquids and/or suspensions, located upstream of the main reactor, and at least one metering unit (5) for gaseous and/or vaporous substances, and also a product workup unit (6) located downstream of the main reactor. A process for preparing substantially halogen-free trialkoxysilanes of the general formula I in which silicon is reacted with alcohols in an inert solvent utilizes at least one organocopper compound catalyst.

Abstract: Cyclic silane esters and solvolysis products thereof and processes for making these materials. The cyclic silanes and their solvolysis products are useful as adhesives, crosslinking agents and reagents for modifying polymers containing ester groups.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for preparing amino-functional organosilanes which are low in chlorofunctional organosilanes or essentially free of chlorofunctional organosilanes, by reacting chloro-functional organosilanes with organic amines or ammonia and separating off the organic ammonium chlorides and/or the ammonium chloride thus formed, wherein the small amounts of chloro-functional organosilanes which have not reacted with ammonia or alkylamines are reacted by addition of at least one metal alkoxide in a reaction downstream of the aminosilane synthesis.

Abstract: Water-based organopolysiloxane-containing compositions which are essentially free from organic solvents, have a flashpoint above 80.degree. C., and essentially liberate no alcohols by hydrolysis on dilution with water are obtainable by mixing water-soluble aminoalkylalkoxysilanes with alkyltrialkoxysilanes and/or dialkyldialkoxysilanes and/or mixtures of alkyltrialkoxysilanes and dialkyldialkoxysilanes which are not water-soluble, adding water to the mixture, adjusting the pH of the reaction mixture to a value of between 1 and 8 and removing any alcohol already present and/or formed during the reaction. Such compositions are especially useful for hydrophobicizing the surface of building materials such as brick, concrete, lime sand brick, and mortar.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing low-chloride or chloride-free aminofunctional organosilanes by reacting chlorofunctional organosilanes with organic amines or ammonia and separating off the organic hydrochlorides or ammonium chloride thus formed, wherein further amounts of organic hydrochlorides or ammonium chloride present are reacted by addition of metal alkoxides dissolved in alcohols and the metal chlorides formed are separated off, and also to aminofunctional organosilanes prepared thereby.
