  • Patent number: 6021842
Abstract: A stationary continuous casting mold, especially for casting steel, with an electromagnetic device having a plurality of stirrer elements which are arranged in pairs on the outer wall of the continuous casting mold at a distance from one another and are connected to an electric a.c. voltage. The stirrer elements include at least two pairs and the stirrer elements of each pair are arranged opposite one another and so as to be rotated at an angle relative to one another in an X-shaped configuration in a plane parallel to the casting direction. All pairs are arranged at substantially the same height.

  • Patent number: 5771957
Abstract: A device for the continuous casting of steel, consisting of a continuous casting mold which oscillates in the casting direction, is mounted on springs clamped at both ends which extend transverse to the direction of casting, and is connected with a hydraulic oscillation drive. The the hydraulic oscillation drives are servo-hydraulic cylinders, arranged in a longitudinal sectional plane placed through the continuous casting mold laterally alongside the continuous casting mold, the servo-hydraulic cylinders are firmly connected, free of play, to a support frame and with the continuous casting mold.

  • Patent number: 5660294
Abstract: A rotating closure device for a runout opening in a base of a metallurgical vessel for preventing access of gases reacting with a melt. The device includes an upper closure plate (3) positioned at an end side of a drain block (1) and a lower closure plate (4) at the outlet (2). The upper closure plate (3) is provided with at least two through-holes for meeting at least two channels (7, 8) in the drain block (1), which channels (7, 8) extend parallel to an axis of rotation of the device. The lower closure plate (4) is provided with at least one through-hole for meeting at least one channel (6) in the outlet. The at least two chapels (7, 8) meet at least one channel (6) via a connection between the upper and lower closure plates (3, 4).

  • Patent number: 5335714
Abstract: The invention relates to a dummy bar for continuous casting installations with a curved bar guide arranged downstream of a mold. The invention provides a dummy bar which is characterized by a flexible metallic strip (1) and components (3) which are fastened to a surface of the strip (1) for detachably connecting with spacers (2) extending in the shape of strips along the width of the strip (1) on the same surface transversely to the longitudinal direction of the strip, which spacers (2) have mutually adjacent contact areas (6) at least in the region of the components (3). The free surface of the spacers (2) is covered with congruent rubber-like plates (5) and the free surface of the strip (1) is provided with a rubber-like coating (4).
