  • Patent number: 5163895
Abstract: A centrifugal drier for a product, comprises a horizontally supported rotating drive shaft including an axial passageway adapted to be a filling pipe for the product; a drum having a closed end secured to one end of the drive shaft and an open end; a conical filter mounted inside the drum, tapering from narrow to wide toward the drum open end; a rotatably mounted baffle disk being displaceable between a closed position sealing the drum open end and an open position for adjustable discharge of the dried product, the filter and the baffle disk defining a work area, the axial passageway communicating with the work area; an annular duct operably associated with the drum open end and cooperating with the baffle disk for receiving the dried product when the baffle disk is in the open position; and a backflusher disposed outside the filter for backflushing the filter with fluid.

  • Patent number: 5026169
Abstract: The mixer of the invention consists of an upwardly flaring conical mixing container 10 comprising a spherical bottom 28 formed by a rotary head 26. The mixer screw shaft 32 rests in the rotary head and is sealed therein, entering the mixing container 10 from below. The rotary head is affixed to a support collar 24 resting centrally in a transmission housing 22 at the lower part of the container. This lower part of the container consists of a central housing 14 flanged onto the container and comprising an upper conical segment 15 extending the container wall and a lower cylindrical segment 18 sealing by means of axial face seals 44 the cylindrical outer side 42 of the rotary head inside a cylindrical, fitted bore. The lower flange of the transmission housing 22 connects to the drive support 70, 68 encapsulating completely all movable drive parts from the outside.

  • Patent number: 4858641
Abstract: A shut-off valve for liquids and other substances to be attached to the outlet flange of a container, with a cylindrical valve body (2) which extends through the valve housing inclined at an acute angle to the vertical and whose cylindrical guide (14) ends in an upper elliptical opening of the inlet flange (12), with the face (18) of the valve body also exhibiting an elliptical circumference adjusted thereto. Connected to the lower side of guide (14) is a generally vertical cylindrical downpipe (16), and the valve body (2) is turned from its closed position blocking the valve passage by 180.degree. via actuating means and then shifted axially until completely open. During the closing process, which involves the above process in reverse, the circumferential edge of the valve body shaves all material off the sealing ring (3) and the sealing surface (20) prior to reaching the closed position.

  • Patent number: 4787154
Abstract: A suction-filter-drier, in particular for isolating and drying a product from suspension, comprising a closed container having an outer wall and a horizontal axis and including a liquid permeable filter positioned in the container and spaced from the outer wall; and having a plurality of filter chambers disposed between the filter means and the outer wall; and further including a hollow rotatable rotor extending axially through the container with the rotor being oblate in cross-section with a rotor disc supported on the rotor, and including means for selectively oscillating the rotor by imparting a reversely pivoting motion.

  • Patent number: 4631048
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for pneumatically evacuating a vertical centrifuge (12), the drying gas moving as a secondary flow (54) being converted--prior to its combination with the mixture of product and gas conveyed through the discharge pipe--into a turbulent longitudinal flow essentially enclosing the discharge pipe as far as its downstream end, in order to prevent caking of the centrifuged material within the discharge pipe or in conveying lines (20) attached thereto and also to shorten the length of the drying pipe.

  • Patent number: 4123174
Abstract: A mixer is disclosed of the type including a downwardly tapering conical wall and a rotating worm or screw which rotates both about its own axis and which rotates about a conical path along the inside wall of the vessel to effect mixing. At the bottom of the vessel is a flanged opening, and a bearing housing sealingly engages the flanged opening of the mixing vessel from below. The bearing housing includes a product outlet tube extending straight vertically downwardly therefrom.
