  • Patent number: 6447561
Abstract: An abrasive body for grinding optical glass, precious and natural stones such as marble, or other material such as wood, metal, plastic or the like is provided. The abrasive body comprises a base body of woven, knitted or embroidered fabric made of carbon fibers, or of a graphite foil. A uniform, homogeneous diamond or boron nitride coating is deposited on the base body as a grinding layer.

  • Patent number: 5503648
Abstract: The subject of the invention is a process for the production of grinding tools which have a basic body carrying an abrasive coating. The abrasive coating has hard-material grains, such as diamond grains, which are held in a bond. In order to simplify the production process, provision is made, after the abrasive coating (8) has been applied to the basic body (2), for the tool (1), vacuum-packaged in a foil (10), to be hot-pressed isostatically in an autoclave. This avoids the need to use special hardened or ground press molds made of high-quality material steels.

    Assignee: Firma Mecano Vorrichtungsbau GmbH
    Inventor: Hans-Joachim Wiemann
  • Patent number: 4842937
Abstract: A wear-protective layer for cutting tools is formed by the chemical vapor deposition or chemical plasma deposition or plasma sputtering by depositing a plurality of layers to a support of the cutting tool to form a multilayer in which each successive layer remoter from the support has a higher elasticity module and a greater diamond portion than the preceding layer. The outermost layer is a layer of diamond.
