  • Publication number: 20060017231
Abstract: A cylinder head gasket with a distance-measuring device for the pressure in cylinders of internal combustion engines is described. Measurement of the cylinder pressure is provided by an inductive distance-measuring device in a recess of the cylinder head gasket. The device after the installation of the cylinder head gasket is disposed between mutually facing surface regions of the engine block and the cylinder head and is capable of generating a signal for the distance between the engine block and the cylinder head which varies as a function of the pressure prevailing in the cylinder during operation of the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 6378852
Abstract: A dual-mode twin-chamber thrust bearing having hydraulic damping has a working chamber and an equalizing chamber, which are separated by a partition. The chambers are hydraulically connected by a damping channel or optionally by other vibration-damping devices. The partition is provided in its center with a passage that is closable by an actuator, and the outer wall of the equalizing chamber formed by an elastic bellows. The actuator and the elastic bellows form an integral component, which is displaced by an electric motor via an actuator mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5521497
Abstract: The invention is directed to a measuring arrangement which is mounted to detect, without contact, the distance between two components which are movable relative to each other. A component 22 has at least one magnet 25 in order to obtain, with less technical complexity, a signal substantially free of noise. The other component 23 has the magnetic field sensor 28 which is surrounded by a magnet arrangement 27 and is mounted asymmetrically to this magnet arrangement. The magnetic field sensor 28 is disposed above the exit plane E of the field lines of the magnet arrangement 27. The changes of the magnetic field detected by the magnetic field sensor 28 are converted in a signal processing unit (31, 32) into a proportional electrical control signal.
