  • Publication number: 20150345550
Abstract: A non-locating bearing assembly is configured to rotatably support a shaft relative to a housing while permitting relative axial displacement of the shaft relative to the housing. The bearing assembly includes a bearing having inner and outer rings and that is configured for transmitting radial and axial forces, and a bearing support attachable to the housing and including a support section having a partially cylindrical seat surface for receiving one of the inner and outer bearing rings and forming a sliding seat therefor. The sliding seat allows a relative axial displacement between the support section and one of the inner and outer bearing rings. A spring is disposed on or in the bearing support for generating a force in the axial direction between the bearing support and the one of the inner and outer bearing rings, and the spring element is formed from a segment of the bearing support.

  • Publication number: 20120014633
Abstract: A roller bearing cage comprises first and second annular elements, each having at least three radially-extending bulges or indentations spaced around a circumferential direction of the annular elements. An axially-facing surface of each bulge or indentation serves as a guide surface for one axial end of a roller body. A plurality of bridge elements are bonded to and connect the first and second annular elements. Each bridge element is disposed between two adjacent bulges or indentations on a radial side of the annular elements that is opposite of the extension direction of the radially-extending bulges or indentations. The bridge elements are configured to support rolling surfaces of respective roller bodies such that a pocket for a roller body is defined between each two adjacent bridge elements and each two axially-opposing, radially-extending bulges or indentations.

  • Publication number: 20110299800
Abstract: A bearing assembly comprises at least one bearing element abutting against at least one adjacent part at a contact surface. The bearing assembly can be manufactured by disposing a reactive nano-crystalline layer between the bearing element and the adjacent part in the area of the contact surface and then initiating an exothermic reaction in the reactive nano-crystalline layer, so that the bearing element bonds to the adjacent part in a materially-connected manner. The exothermic reaction involves at least partially heating the surface area of the bearing element and/or of the adjacent part that is located in the area of the contact surface.

  • Patent number: 7103974
Abstract: A process for mounting an outer bearing ring involves press fitting a stamp into the outer ring so that the inner peripheral surface of the outer ring assumes the shape of the stamp. Using the stamp, the outer ring is then press fitted into the recess of a machine part so that the contour of the external peripheral surface of the outer ring is plastically molded through axial stretching into the machine part. To mount an inner ring, a stamp with a bore is press fitted onto the inner ring so that the inner peripheral surface of the inner ring pressing against the stamp assumes the shape of the bore of the stamp. Using the stamp, the inner ring is then press fitted onto the machine part and the contour of the inner peripheral surface of the inner ring is plastically molded through axial flow forming into the machine part.

  • Patent number: 6579012
Abstract: A bearing ring includes a first ring part having a first peripheral surface forming a rolling body retaining track or a sliding surface and a second peripheral surface, and a concentrically arranged second ring part having first and second peripheral surfaces. The first and second ring parts are pressed together to plastically mold the second peripheral surface of the first ring part into the first peripheral surface of the second ring part through axial expansion. During manufacture, one tool grasps the first peripheral surface of the first ring part and presses it into a pre-determinable shape and another tool supports the second peripheral surface of the second ring part. The first ring part is pressed against the second ring part, with the contour of the second peripheral surface of the first ring part being plastically molded into the first peripheral surface of the second ring part through axial flow forming.

  • Publication number: 20010018803
Abstract: A method for securing the outer ring of the bearing in a runner shell wherein the radius of an edge defining the seat for the bearing varies in a predetermined manner around its circumference, the steps comprising, positioning an outer ring of the bearing in the seat of the runner shell so that the edge of the runner shell overlies a circumferentially extending seating groove in the outer ring, placing a die having a forming face in engagement with the peripheral edge of the runner shell, and deforming by means of a die, the edge of the runner shell seat in a manner to displace essentially the same material around the circumference of the edge into the bearing groove, thereby producing a generally uniform force on the bearing ring around the circumference of the ring which eliminates distortion thereof.
