  • Patent number: 4969809
Abstract: A lubrication system for a rotary piston internal-combustion engine of the trochoid type, including a roller or needle bearing for the rotor on the eccentric, wherein internal engine oil seals may be eliminated. A narrow annular clearance is provided between the shaft and the pinion of the synchromesh gearing, into which a dosed quantity of fresh oil may be pumped through the adjoining side part. At that side of this annular clearance which opens towards the eccentric, a splash edge is provided which is surrounded by a collector groove arranged at the eccentric. A passage in the eccentric leads from a radially outermost part of the collector groove towards the center of the rotor bearing. The pressurizing oil flowing into the annular clearance forces the oil to leave this space whereupon it is splashed off the splash edge under the action of the centrifugal force of the rotating shaft, and transferred into the collector groove from where it is passed through the bore in the eccentric into the rotor bearing.

  • Patent number: 4830591
Abstract: A lubrication system for a rotary-piston internal combustion engine of the trochoid type with roller or needle bearings between the eccentric and the rotor. Lubricating oil in a dosed quantity is passed through a bore in the side part adjacent the gearing between the shaft and the pinion of the gear, from where it is supplied to the connection of the eccentric where, due to the centrifugal force, it is sprayed or splashed into a collector plate at the eccentric wall at the side of the gear. A bore leads from this collector plate to the eccentric bearing and passes the oil into the bearing under the influence of the centrifugal force. Excess oil serves to lubricate the gear and the gas seal elements.

  • Patent number: 4643438
Abstract: An axial oil seal of a rotary piston internal combustion engine of trochoidal type of construction having a housing that consists of two side plates and a two-lobed or dual-curvature mantle runway with an eccentric shaft passing through the housing and including a triangular piston upon an eccentric of the eccentric shaft such that corners of the piston are continuously in sliding engagement of the sealing parts of the gas seal rotating along the mantle runway and the housing side walls, such oil seal within the axial gas seal being arranged in a groove in the piston, which oil seal consists of at least one sealing ring having a trapezoidal shape in radial cross section and an oil-wiping or scraping edge provided with spring effect of the oil-wiping scraping edge against the housing side wall as well as a seal closing and shutting off a groove path.
