  • Patent number: 5071534
Abstract: An aluminum electrolysis cell comprises a cathode and a continuous anode disposed above the cathode. The anode is composed of carbon elements which are glued or in some other way connected to one another. Onto the anode, there are added new elements to replace carbon material consumed during the electrolysis process. The anode is divided into sections defined by easily detachable holders or cassettes which are disposed close to one another in a row longitudinally of the cell. The cassettes are each provided at their upper ends with projections designed to be detachably connected to bearer walls or structures along the long sides of the cell.

  • Patent number: 4749463
Abstract: In this field it is a problem to find practical technical solutions for heat recovery at the same time as regulation and control of the temperature conditions during cell operation is difficult, especially when cooling of the cell is intended. The arrangement comprises cooling chambers (6A, 6B, 6C, 6', 51) each having a base area covering a small proportion of the surface of each cell. Together these cooling chambers cover a substantial proportion of the cell surface without any significant space between the cooling chambers. These are adapted to receive a through-flow of a cooling medium which is controlled (8A, 8B, 8C) individually for each cooling chamber, and the cooling medium preferably is helium.

  • Patent number: 4373332
Abstract: This movement compensation arrangement in one aspect comprises a hydraulic main motor group driven by the pressure difference between two hydropneumatic pressure containers and a hydraulic auxiliary motor group driven by a pump with an effect which can be regulated, and adapted to provide for dynamic compensation. The hydraulic main motor group is adapted to substantially take up the static load. The two motor groups are rotationally coupled to moving means. A control unit in response to input signals controls both motor groups, of which the main motor group has a stepwise and/or continuously variable displacement (FIG. 1).

  • Patent number: 4215851
Abstract: A system for active compensation of undesired relative movement particularly during loading of cargo comprising a long-periodic acting system for compensation of static loading caused by the load and a short-periodic acting system for active compensation of undesired relative movement of the load relative to a reference value. The long-periodic system includes a compensating cylinder provided with two pistons acting in opposite directions, the cylinder being connected to one or more pressure loaded reservoirs operating pneumatically. The short-periodic system includes at least one hydraulic cylinder and the position of the short-periodic system is determined by measurement of acceleration of the end of the loading crane beam by accelerometers.
