  • Patent number: 5980241
Abstract: The invention has a container (50) for a fuel (W) with at least a partial cover (55) in which there is a non-combustible wick (52) in a wick holder (100). Above the container (50) near the wick holder there is at least one roller or upright body (RK) or in the container (50) there is a disc of solid fuel (W) around the wick holder (100), whereby the fuel of the roller and upright body (RK) or of the disc is melted by the flame and cover heat and collected by the container (50) and/or by the wick holder (100) as supplementary fuel. The wick holder (100) is suspended in an aperture (56) of the container cover (55), so that the wick holder (100) is not in direct heat-tansmitting contact with the container base (50b).

  • Patent number: 5193994
Abstract: A candle is disclosed which comprises at least one body, which is composed of a material which is solid at room temperature such as wax or paraffin, and a wick. The body which is composed of a combustible material which is solid at room temperature, has, at least at the bottom end, a part which can be plugged together or connected with a mating part of an identical body. At the top end of the uppermost body, a tubular headpiece which surrounds said body is provided and is guided, at least at its bottom end, and moves downwards with the burning-down candle.

  • Patent number: 4685397
Abstract: There is disclosed a lead-free and plastics-free hunting bullet, preferably made of tombac, in which on impact with a target a cap, which is provided with wedge-shaped projections, is forced rapidly rearwards within the bullet so that the projections rupture the wall of the bullet internally with the results that uniformly distributed tongues or petals are formed within the target. The bullet maintains its overall weight on passage through the body of an animal and no lead or plastics material can be become transferred to the body.

  • Patent number: 4655140
Abstract: A projectile suitable for example for hunting purposes, with a body tapering toward its forward end, comprising in the area of its tapered forward end a plurality of weakened locations in the form of cuts and/or notches extending at an angle obliquely to its longitudinal axis. The cuts or notches offer resistance to the rotation of the projectile in flight, so that the rotation of the projectile will be braked in flight, and projectile will drop rapidly after passing through the range of the target desired. Upon impact on a target, however, the rotation of the projectile, reduced while in flight, is appreciably enhanced and a cleaner entry and passage of the projectile is attained.

  • Patent number: 4557687
Abstract: A fuel element for open burning installations, such as a fireplace, containing a shell-like, elongated housing, in which a supply of fuel may be filled and refilled. In addition, at least one flat burner body, such as a flat wick, is arranged in the housing and immersed with its lower part in the fuel supply, while its upper edge is protruding in a height adjustable manner from the top side of the housing. A fireplace suitable for fuel elements of this type contains an exhaust hood in which is positioned a filter in the form of an absorber to purify and regenerate the air rising from the fuel elements, in particular removing suspended particles and eliminating unpleasant odors. The fireplace does not require outside connections.

  • Patent number: 4384847
Abstract: A fire bowl having a bowl-like container (6; 50; 72; 92) filled with a fuel like oil, and a rotary body (7; 57; 74; 95) rotatably supported above said fuel (8; 54), a plurality of non-consumable wicks being held on said rotary body, said wicks being partly immersed into said fuel and the upper ends thereof being situated within or beneath a shell (39; 52; 93) of translucent material which is open at its upper and lower ends. The rotary body can have apertures for the wicks, and for each wick (34) a separate shell (39) can be provided. The shells rest on said rotary body. In the upper side of said rotary body or in said container at least one aperture (41; 94; 96) for admitting air is provided. Preferably, said wicks being arranged in wick holders (33; 75) attached to the lower side of said rotary body.

  • Patent number: 4024819
Abstract: A firearm cartridge is provided with a thin-wall tubular casing which carries a percussion element at its rear end and which exhibits a radially inwardly bent flange on its front end. A projectile is supported in the forward portion of the case by means of a bushing having an inwardly and forwardly extending taper that terminates in engagement with the flange of the casing. The inner periphery of the bushing exhibits an outwardly directed projection intermediate its ends, such projection being received in a mating annular recess on the outer periphery of the projectile.

  • Patent number: 4020740
Abstract: A firearm adjustable into single-shot, burst and continuous operation modes is described. For operation in one of the non-continuous modes, an indexing device disposed on the rear portion of a first lever in the firearm trigger mechanism is placed into engagement with an advancing mechanism carried by a second lever that selectively actuates the firearm operating rod. The advancing mechanism has a second indexing device engageable with a plate or other transport device slidably mounted on the second lever and engageable with a catch on the operating rod. When the continuous mode is selected, the indexing device on the second lever rests in an idling recess disposed on the rear portion of the first lever forwardly of the indexing device thereon. An improved cartridge magazine and cartridge construction suitable for use in such firearm, together with improved facilities for operating the breech section of such firearm, are also described.
