  • Patent number: 9420158
Abstract: A system for implementing and utilizing a lens array in an electronic device includes a sensor array coupled to the electronic device for capturing image data corresponding to a photographic target. The lens array includes a plurality of lenses that each has a different respective principal focal length to transmit reflected light from the photographic target to the sensor array. The sensor array captures a set of MFP images that each corresponds with a respective one of the lenses in the MFP lens array. The electronic device may further include an image processor that performs one or more digital signal processing procedures on the captured MFP images to thereby generate a rendered final image.

  • Patent number: 8542320
Abstract: A television set. The television set includes a display, a gesture detector, a transceiver, a processor, and a memory component. The display is operable to render images. The gesture detector is operable to detect gesture interactions, e.g., initiation of gesture control operation. The transceiver is operable to communicate with an electronic device that is separate from the television set. The processor is operable to cause the transceiver to send a request message to the electronic device. The request message is a request to receive a graphical user interface (GUI) of the electronic device for rendering on the display. The transceiver receives the GUI of the electronic device responsive to the request message. The processor generates a command message responsive to gesture interaction with the GUI of the electronic device. The command message is operable to control an operation of the electronic device and is transmitted to the electronic device.

  • Publication number: 20110231092
Abstract: A portable device such as a camera comprises a wireless tracking unit for tracking the position of the portable device utilizing wireless internet technologies. When enabled, the portable device automatically determines its global position and uploads the position to a tracking server where the position data is saved in a position database. The position data is able to then be accessed at any time by a specified group comprising the user and any specified friends or family of the user upon accessing the tracker server from a personal computer or their portable devices. As a result, members of the specified group are able to track each other's real-time locations and history of locations throughout the world.

  • Patent number: 7293115
Abstract: A method and system thereof for updating applications installed on a computer system. Each application supplies the name of a source (e.g., a Web site address) from which updates can be obtained. Upon boot up, the boot loader reads the addresses, locates the interface for connecting with the Internet, and connects with each of the Web sites. Updated application information is identified and can be downloaded from the Web sites to the computer system. Also, information can be downloaded to change the graphical user interface for the application. Furthermore, the Web site can determine whether the application is authorized for use on the computer system. Alternatively, a single Web site can be used for multiple applications. In addition, this process can instead be implemented as a background function after boot up. In each implementation, applications are conveniently and reliably updated without having to execute the applications.

  • Patent number: 6081263
Abstract: A method and apparatus for creating user configurable interactive display, wherein a control area is invoked in order to display representations of at least one operating environment. The operating environment contains user interactive components corresponding to information resources which may be selected for use by the user. A scratch pad is invoked onto the display allowing a user to select components from the operating environment to be placed onto the scratch pad. Once the interactive components from one or more operating environments are placed onto the scratch pad, a user interactive display area is generated comprising a display of user selected components.

  • Patent number: 6005565
Abstract: A power search tool that enables a user to search an electronic program guide and other information resources with one search. A search tool window is displayed that enables a user to select filter elements used to search. Alternately, in one embodiment, the filter elements are automatically selected from predetermined program elements, such as title or subject, of a selected program in the electronic program guide. The search tool performs a search of the electronic program guide and information resource and modifies the display of the electronic program guide to identify those programs that are filtered from the search. Similarly, a window displays information indicating those portions of the information resource that have been filtered during the search. Preferably the information resource is the world wide web and the URLs of the web sites that include information relative to the filter elements are displayed.
