  • Patent number: 6441567
Abstract: A color display device comprising a cathode ray tube and a deflection unit. The display device includes a compensation coil arranged circumferentially around the display tube, for example on the deflection unit, and means to supply dc current to the coil for correcting a trapezoidal distortion in the raster displayed on the screen.

  • Patent number: 5432492
Abstract: A deflection yoke apparatus has a pair of horizontal and a pair of vertical deflection coils, a coil separator therebetween, and a funnel-shaped deflection core which provides a magnetic path for magnetic flux generated by the deflection coils. A pair of auxiliary coils are arranged at diametrically opposed positions outside the deflection core, and may be energized by the horizontal deflection current supplied to the horizontal deflection coils. The magnetic field generated by the auxiliary coils at least partially compensates the external magnetic leakage field which is radiated outside the deflection core by the horizontal deflection coils. The auxiliary coils have rod-shaped magnetic cores which are in magnetic flux coupling relationship with the smaller end of the deflection core. Leakage flux compensation is thereby achieved with minimal affect on the deflection fields and with low power dissipation in the auxiliary coils.

  • Patent number: 5347196
Abstract: A line output transformer with compensation for any alternating electric field in band 2, i.e., the horizontal deflection frequency band (AEF2). The output transformer comprises a ferromagnetic core with at least one leg and at least one high voltage winding arranged on a leg of the core and magnetically coupled to the core. A rectifier and a capacitor are coupled to the high voltage winding for generating a smoothed high DC voltage. A high voltage conductor is electrically connected to the rectifier and the capacitor for applying the high DC-voltage to an electrode of a cathode ray tube. In order to reduce the value of the AEF2, the high voltage conductor includes a first portion that is magnetically coupled to the core. Preferably, the first portion of the high voltage conductor includes at least one turn that surrounds a leg of the core.

  • Patent number: 4789806
Abstract: A cathode ray tube deflection unit comprising a field coil system with two diametrically opposite field deflection coils and a line coil system with two diametrically opposite line deflection coils. Each coil has a front end segment (15, 18), a rear-end segment (16, 19) and conductors (17, 20) extending between such segments.

  • Patent number: 4786838
Abstract: A cathode ray tube electromagnetic deflection unit comprising a support (4) having a flange (8) at its constricted end (5) which has a tangential groove into which radial grooves (14) merge. Two sets of deflection coils (18, 19) are wound on the support (4), the turns thereof running through the radial grooves (14) and the turns of one set bending into the tangential groove. The coils of the coil system 18 are for line deflection, and the two halves thereof are wound in the opposite winding sense and are energized during operation in such a manner that the highest voltage in both coils occurs at the coil turns adjacent plane of separation between the two coils and the lowest voltage occurs at the coil turns most remote from such plane of separation.

  • Patent number: 4464643
Abstract: A device for displaying television pictures comprising a display tube in the neck of which an electron gun system is present for emitting at least one electron beam towards a display screen and having a deflection unit which is connected coaxially around the display tube and comprising a line deflection coil system and a frame deflection coil system both having coils of the saddle type. Each frame deflection coil comprises a number of conductors which are wound so as to produce first and second side packets, a first front end section and a second front end section which together define a first window, as well as to produce third and fourth side packets, a second rear end section and a second front end section which together define a second window which is situated within the first window.
