  • Patent number: 6520231
Abstract: A link for a tire chain including a tread portion and flanking side-wall portions with at least the tread portion including vertically extending links, three or four of which are interconnected by horizontal connectors to form a mesh of a desired shape. The link includes a base portion, a medial portion and a head portion, with at least one traction member of a material that is relatively harder than the material of the link partially embedded in the head portion and partially exposed on the surface of the head portion. The traction member may be in the form of tungsten carbide buttons or plates secured in holes in the head portion of the link or may be in the form of a plurality of particles consolidated in a cemented compact or steel matrix that is secured to the head portion of the link, either by being cast or formed on the head portion or by being provided on a body that is weldable to the head portion.

  • Patent number: 4987993
Abstract: A conveyor belt scraper comprising an elongate frame defining an elongate aperture; at least one elongate scraper blade member guided for movement within and transversely to the aperture so that it can move towards and away from a belt to be cleaned; mounting structure provided towards each end of the frame for mounting the frame with respect to a belt to be cleaned; a spring support pivotally connected to the frame; and a leaf spring supported on the spring support, the spring support and the spring being arranged such that the spring engages the scraper blade member and biases it, in use, outwardly of the aperture and towards a belt being cleaned. The belt scraper is open to facilitate cleaning and minimize the collection of undesirable fluids and dirt which can cause corrosion and interfere with the smooth functioning of the blade biassing components.

  • Patent number: 4915211
Abstract: A conveyor belt scraper has an elongate supporting frame that supports an elongate blade guided to move laterally with respect to the supporting frame in a direction towards a belt to be scraped. The blade is urged into engagement with the belt by at least one elongate element that is at least partly flexible and at least partly longitudinally resilient. Structure is provided for tensioning the elongate element. Various arrangements for the elongate element in relation to the blade and construction of the elongate element are disclosed. The conveyor belt scraper also has structure for mounting two or more scraper blades so that the force with which they engage the belt to be scraped is substantially equalized.

  • Patent number: 4646805
Abstract: A chain winch 10 having a sprocket wheel 14 of polygonal cross-section with flat faces 32 dimensioned in dependence on the dimensions of a link chain to be used therewith and having pin formations 36 for engaging between or in chain links. The winch includes a self latching pawl 48 engageable with the chain links and a braking mechanism 16 for controlled unwinding when required in use. The winch is simple and inexpensive and the sprocket tolerant of chain dimensions so that it can be used with uncalibrated chain. This winch, amongst other things, has application for permanent fitting to a tire chain for tensioning it on to a tire.

  • Patent number: 4106542
Abstract: A tire chain comprising tread links formed with a perforation and connectors that are loops threaded through the perforations in three or more tread links interconnecting the tread links to form a network of closed figures. The connectors are loops of a carbon steel rod with the ends of the loops lapping each other and being welded together along the length of their adjacent surfaces. The tread links and connectors are of different carbon steels whereby after heat treating each is hardened throughout its thickness with the tread links having a surface hardness in the range 46 to 54 Rockwell C and the connectors having a core hardness in the range 15 to 35 Rockwell C.
