  • Patent number: 6082658
Abstract: The roving slubbing at the conclusion of winding of a roving bobbin in a flyer type machine is passed in a descending spiral around the cylindrical body bobbin and then onto the lower winding cone, after it is looped in an overwinding onto the winding tube below the lower winding cone. The winding then passes in a spiral upwardly and is formed into a short spiral segment which is drawn out by a traction on the roving so that the latter will break along the cylindrical body. The bobbin is stable and can easily be handled and transported directly and there is a reduced possibility for the slubbing to come loose, although it remains available to be pulled downwardly at the ring-spinning machine.

  • Patent number: 6044639
Abstract: An automatic spinning start-up flyer for a roving frame which has on a flyer arm a swingably-mounted pressing finger comprised of a pressing finger bar and a pressing finger arm with a pressing finger blade. The pressing finger assembly is mounted on a pivot axis at the centrum of the connection of the pressing finger with the flyer arm and is rotated about the bobbin center. The pressing finger rod lies outside the radius along which the pressing finger arm with pressing finger blade are arranged and the pressing finger bar is actuatable by an actuating element effective transverse to the pivot axis upon the pressing finger bar to swing the pressing finger into its outwardly-swung position. With the flyer, a wide opening of the pressing finger can be effected automatically for automatic bobbin change without a loading of the pressing finger against the sleeve or bobbin.

  • Patent number: 6038845
Abstract: A process for bobbin replacement on a flyer frame provided with a drafting frame, flyers, spindles and a bobbin rail, in which, while the flyer frame is running, a sliver end for each sliver supplied by the drafting frame is placed upon an empty bobbin sleeve. Initially only the flyers and the spindles of the flyer are driven. The flyers and the spindles are either immediately advanced in a forward direction or are initially driven backwards and after the lapse of a predetermined time period, brought to standstill and then driven forwardly, whereby the standstill of the flyers and the spindles coincide in time or are offset in time. After the start of the forward drive of the flyers and the spindles, the time-delayed drafting frame is set into operation.

  • Patent number: 5987868
Abstract: A roving frame has a flyer region into which the suspension carriage trains are moved past a device for monitoring the presence or absence of cores or bobbins on the hangers. An error signal is transmitted in the case of an error and correction is effected when the suspension carriage train is in the flyer region. The suspension carriage train is then moved back past the sensors and either on this backward movement or the next forward movement, the functional correctness or poor mounting is again measured. Correction is effected in each case in the flyer region where the hangers are more readily accessible.

  • Patent number: 5331799
Abstract: After forming a package on a spindle from a roving fed to the spindle through a rotatable flyer finger, feed of the roving is stopped to arrest the flyer in a position with the finger anywhere on the package underneath the upper end of the last layer of turns formed on the package. The package is then lowered until the finger is above the upper end of the last layer of the turns formed on the package while the package is rotated in a reverse direction opposite to the forward direction without feeding more roving to the package. The package is rotated in the forward direction through at least one half revolution about the axis without feeding more roving to the package so as to form at least a partial loop of the roving around the package above the upper end of the last layer of the turns and then more roving is fed to the package while same is lowered until the finger is below the upper end of the last layer of the turns. Finally the package is raised to sever the roving upstream of the package.

  • Patent number: 5117621
Abstract: A spinning apparatus winds a strand onto a yarn package by relatively rotating a flyer and the yarn package about an upright axis so as to wind the strand in a succession of turns around the package by a flyer finger movable axially relative to the package. Each successive layer of turns is shorter than the preceding one so that the finished package has an axially upwardly tapered upper end. After substantially completely forming the package the rotation is generally stopped to leave the flyer in a position with the finger below the upper end of the last layer of turns formed on the package. Then the package and finger are relatively axially moved until the finger is generally at the upper end of the first layer of turns formed on the package. The flyer and package are then relatively rotated forward, that is in the same direction as when the package was being formed, through at least one half revolution about the axis so as to form a loop of the strand around the upper package end.
