  • Patent number: 6796116
Abstract: An open-end spinning device with an opening device for opening continuously supplied sliver material by means of a rapidly running opening cylinder, which opening device is arranged in front of a sliver spreading device (78) with cooperating pairs of spreading cylinders. The spreading cylinders (79, 80, 81, 82) comprise flanges that engage into recesses of the opposing spreading cylinder. The spacing between the particular cooperating spreading cylinders (79, 80, 81, 82) can be periodically varied. An unobjectionable opening process with a low speed of the opening cylinder and with a widened opening cylinder can be achieved with the sliver spreading device (78) of the invention which process is associated with a high-precision dosing and high yarn uniformity.

  • Patent number: 6745553
Abstract: An air-spinning arrangement has an opening device having a feed device and an opening roller for opening a sliver into individual fibers. A perforated removal roller receives the opened fibers from the opening roller in the circumferential direction. A conveyor belt conveys the fibers from the removal roller to a nip with a following air-spin nozzle for forming a yarn. The conveyor belt is arranged axially-parallel with the removal roller. A sufficiently close spacing of the conveyor belt from the removal roller is selected such that the fibers conveyed to the removal roller can be picked up by mechanical contact, and the conveyor belt is driven such that it deflects the fibers by approximately 90° and conveys them to the combing location. The air-spinning arrangement allows the formation of a fiber structure that is well suited to the air-spinning process.

  • Patent number: 6196491
Abstract: In a method for winding a yarn onto a spool body, the conical spool body is driven about a longitudinal axis by a first drive unit. A yarn is guided onto the spool body by a reciprocating yarn guide thereby winding the yarn onto the spool body. A constant yarn winding speed is provided along the length of the spool body during the entire yarn winding process by adjusting the revolutions per minute of the spool body synchronously with a movement of the reciprocating yarn guide. The revolutions per minute are controlled by a computing and control unit based on the instant position of the reciprocating yarn guide and the diameter of the spool body at the instant position. The device for performing this method has a sensor for detecting the changing diameter of the spool body, and the reciprocating yarn guide has a detection device for detecting the instant position of the reciprocating yarn guide.

  • Patent number: 5685137
Abstract: An open-end spinning unit having a one-piece fiber guide conduit inserted between the opening roller housing and the rotor housing is drawn from a steel tube and embodied as an interchangeable component. The fiber guide conduit can be releasably mounted at one end in the opening roller housing in a seating recess and at the other end in the rotor housing in a bore of a sealing plate that is attached to the rotor housing. The sealing plate maintains a low pressure condition created by a vacuum line attached to the rotor housing. This low pressure condition induces the pneumatic conveyance of opened fibers from the opening roller to the rotor through the fiber guide conduit. Sealing components, such as an O-ring in the opening roller housing and a sealing nozzle at the rotor housing assure that a sealed connection of the fiber guide conduit both with the opening roller housing and with the sealing plate is maintained for pneumatic conveyance.

  • Patent number: 5673548
Abstract: A sliver feeding device for an open-end spinning frame, comprising a sliver draw-in roller and a sliver feed trough pivotable about a supporting shaft for movement toward and away from the draw-in roller. The draw-in roller has an annular sliver conveying collar which defines a sliver nip between the collar and the feed trough, and the feed trough has opposed laterally spaced bars for receiving the collar therebetween to guide the sliver at the nip. The draw-in roller is rotatably supported so as to permit a predetermined amount of axial movement of the collar between the guide bars of the feed trough. Similarly, a predetermined amount of axial movement of the feed trough is permitted on the supporting shaft. The collar has axial end faces each comprising a respective cleaning device. The guide bars of the feed trough have inwardly facing bevels which, in connection with the axial play of the feed trough on the supporting shaft, assure automatic pivoting of the feed trough into its operating position.

  • Patent number: 5454219
Abstract: A housing encloses a rotor, an opening roller, and a conduit communicating between the rotor and opening roller for the feeding of fiber from the opening roller to the rotor. The housing forms a trash removal chamber below the opening roller into which trash is discharged toward the bottom of the chamber during operation of the opening roller; the area of the opening roller where the trash is discharged is the trash outlet opening. The rotation of the opening roller creates an air flow draft in the direction of rotation. This air flow draft, taken in combination with suction applied in the rotor of the open-end spinning unit, creates an air flow suction draft from the chamber through the conduit in the direction of the opening roller rotation. An air flow is provided in the trash removal chamber in and from the chamber in a direction counter to the direction of the air flow draft rotating with the opening roller in the region of the trash outlet opening.
