  • Patent number: 5055640
Abstract: An insulating supporting frame of a multi-pin switch arrangement has a box-shaped base part and an insulating supporting part arranged over it. Insulating housings encompassing the vacuum switch tubes are formed onto a wall part. On the rear, bearing parts which are parallel to one another and at a distance from one another are cast onto the wall part, the bearing parts being connected to a top wall of the box-shaped base part. A drive shaft of a spring-force drive is mounted on the bearing parts. The spring-force drive is connected via a linkage to a movable switch contact of the vacuum switch tube. The one-piece insulating supporting frame is constructed in such a way that practically all the parts of the switch arrangement can be arranged on it.

  • Patent number: 4684771
Abstract: An axially reciprocatable actuation rod is conducted out of a vacuum chamber and connected with one of the terminals of a vacuum switch by a connecting conductor. In order to exploit the short switching stroke which is characteristic of vacuum switches and thereby reduce the construction expenditure for the connecting conductor, the connecting conductor is constructed as a yoke whose ends are forked. These opposed ends of the connecting conductor engage at one end thereof the actuation rod and at the other end thereof a protrusion on the terminal extending in the direction of the actuation rod. The opposed ends frictionally engage the actuation rod and the protrusion elastically at mutually opposing locations thereof.

  • Patent number: 4654494
Abstract: A reciprocatingly movable actuating rod is coupled to a longitudinally translatable contact plunger through a linkage and a stationarily arranged S-shaped guideway. A compression spring which is compressible during the course of a switching engagement stroke also acts upon the contact plunger. In order to keep especially the contact plunger as free as possible from transverse forces during the switching stroke and to keep the actuating rod unloaded both in the engaged position and in the disengaged switching stroke position, one end of the actuating rod, which extends perpendicular to the direction of motion of the contact plunger, carries a journal pin engaging the guideway. One end of a connecting rod included in the linkage is pivotably connected to the journal pin. The other end of the connecting rod is pivotably connected to the contact plunger through an entrainment sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4375023
Abstract: A movable, tubular-shaped contact element is displaceably guided in a partition wall subdividing the internal space of the gas-blast switch housing into an extinguishing chamber and an expansion chamber. During the cut-off stroke a current connection prevails by means of this contact element between both of the chambers or compartments. The contact element coacts with a stationary or fixed contact set having a rim of rated current contacts which, in the cut-on position, engage about the contact element. Further, there is provided a burn-off ring which is electrically connected with the contact element and has an electrically insulated, suspended intermediate electrode which, in the cut-on position, engages into the contact element or piece. The latter, during the cut-off stroke, initially comes out of engagement with the rated current contacts and first thereafter comes out of engagement with the intermediate electrode.

  • Patent number: 4368367
Abstract: A fixed contact element and a movable contact element can be brought into and out of engagement with one another within a switching chamber. The switching chamber flow communicates, on the one hand, by means of a blast nozzle, closed by the movable contact element in the cut-on position of the gas-blast switch, with an expansion chamber and, on the other hand, flow communicates by means of a check or a non-return valve which opens in the direction of the switching chamber, with the pressure side of a pump cylinder arranged in the expansion chamber. Operatively associated with the pump cylinder is a movable pump piston which pressurizes the pump cylinder during a cut-off stroke with a time-delay.

  • Patent number: 4296289
Abstract: A movable, substantially tubular-shaped contact element coacts with a fixed set of contacts which, in turn, possesses a rim of rated current contacts, a burn-off rim electrically connected with the rated current contacts, and an intermediate electrode arranged electrically insulated from the rated current contacts. In order to prevent, during the cut-off operation, commutation of the base point of the arc from the burn-off rim back to the contact surfaces of the rated current contacts, the burn-off rim is arranged within the rim of rated current contacts and inwardly offset with respect to their contact surfaces. In the cut-on position the burn-off rim surrounds a burn-off tip secured at the end of the movable contact element. The burn-off tip engages with the intermediate electrode. Between the contact surfaces of the rated current contacts and the burn-off rim there can be arranged an insert formed of a material which, in the presence of an arc, gives off a gas.

  • Patent number: 3988554
Abstract: A gas-blast switch possessing a fixed contact and a movable contact and a blast or discharge nozzle surrounding one of the contacts, the blast nozzle having its inlet connected with the outlet of a pump compartment for an extinguishing gas, this pump compartment can be pressurized by the switch cut-off or switching-off movement, and wherein the narrowest location or throat of the blast nozzle is arranged in the direction of blowing downstream with respect to the aforementioned one contact. The outlet of the pump compartment can be closed by a check or nonreturn valve which closes in the direction of the pump compartment. The inlet of the blast nozzle is connected via a gas chamber with the outlet of the pump compartment, the outlet of the gas chamber confronting the blast nozzle can be closed by means of a further check or nonreturn valve which closes in the direction of the gas chamber.
