  • Publication number: 20230089119
Abstract: A control device for a section of a hot rolling mill is supplied with respective primary data for a plurality of rolling materials and respective preliminary target values for the target variables of the respective rolling material. The respective primary data describes the respective rolling material before being supplied to the section of the hot rolling mill. The respective preliminary target values of the target variables describe a desired target state of the respective rolling material after passing through the section of the hot rolling mill. At least one of the target variables is a particular target variable, whereby the control device determines a respective final target value in such a way that it changes the respective preliminary target value by a respective offset. The respective offset is determined independently of the primary data and the other particular target variables and the normal target variables for the respective rolling material.

  • Publication number: 20140005981
Abstract: A method for statistical quality assurance in an examination of steel products within a steel class is provided. Initially measurement samples are taken to determine at least one mechanical property. In addition to the measurement results, computed results of a computer-aided model for calculating the mechanical property of the respective steel product are used. Taking into account the statistical deviation between the measured results and the computed results, a statement is made as to whether the steel products have a specified probability of achieving a target value for the mechanical property.

  • Patent number: 8459333
Abstract: A rolling mill for producing rolled rolling stock is operated in a continuous manner by integrally forming the rolling stock during scheduled operation from a supply device which supplies the stock to the rolling mill to one finishing rolling train arranged downstream of the rolling stock supply device by guiding the stock into the finishing rolling train continuously and rolling it to form a first outflow product. The operation is monitored for a deviation from the scheduled operation that influences the rolling process, wherein in case of a deviation measures are taken to examine whether a second outflow product, which is different from the first outflow product, can still be produced. If the second outflow product cannot be produced, the operation of the rolling mill is altered from a continuous operation to a discontinuous operation, whereby production failures caused by undesired process deviations in a rolling mill can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 8366029
Abstract: The method is used to determine the filling level of a loaded mill container (2). The container (2) has a drive torque (M) applied to it by means of a drive (6), and causes it to rotate. The drive torque (M) on the drive (6) is set by means of a predeterminable drive test sequence. A time/rotation speed profile of a rotation speed of the container (2) which results from the drive test sequence is recorded, and is analyzed. The filling level is determined on the basis of the results of the analysis. The method produces up to date, accurate information, determined during the milling operation, about the filling level of the container (2).
