Abstract: A strapping band or binding strap for use in connection with automatic strapping or binding machines or apparatus for strapping or binding packaged articles or stacks of articles by means of at least one closed loop of the strapping band or binding strap, comprises the fabrication thereof from a suitable thermoplastic material which has a suitable nucleation agent added thereto. The agent serves as a camber effect inhibitor so as to suppress any camber effect from being imposed or impressed upon or generated within the binding strap or strapping band by means of the roller conveyors conventionally incorporated within the looping frame of the automatic strapping or binding machine or apparatus.

Abstract: A method of producing mouldings from paper and a thermoplastics. Paper and thermoplastics waste are reduced to shavings or chips. The same are introduced into a screw extruder to melt the thermoplastics and prepared therein to be extrudable. The mixture of melted thermoplastics and paper shavings is shaped continuously into the moulding by means of an extruding tool disposed after the screw extruder. The method is used more particularly with waste of plastics-coated packing paper as feed material.

Abstract: An L-shaped extruded edge-protector section for the strapping of articles, stacks or the like, has along the inner or outer surfaces of the respective flanges, respective adhesive strips while the opposite surfaces having longitudinal recesses so that when the edge-protectors are stacked, the adhesive strips are received with clearance in the recesses of adjacent edge-protectors. The edge-protectors when stacked thus do not adhere to one another even though masking strips are not provided for the adhesive strips.

Abstract: Edge protectors for strapped stacks are formed by extruding a mass of paper cuttings and molten thermoplastic which preferably derives from coating materials of paper scrap, for example, trimming wastes of food and beverage containers.
