  • Patent number: 5913436
Abstract: A screw cap, made preferably of plastic, for closing a bottle or the like, with a cylindrical threaded section having a female thread to be screwed on the male thread of a bottle-neck, connected to the security ring via break points, on which there are inwardly-directed catches to engage with an outer collar on the neck of the bottle. The free edge (14) of the cylindrical part (13) has at least one axial projection (15) which engages positively in a recess (17) in the opposite edge of the security ring (11) in the circumferential direction and is releasable in the axial direction. This positive toothing ensures that, when the screw cap is first screwed on the neck of a bottle, the webs (10) are not sheared off by increased torque which can be applied if the catches run on the outer collar of the bottle-neck under tension.

  • Patent number: 5862928
Abstract: A closure for the bottle having a cap-like closure part with an inward projection at its edge for clasping an outward projection on the neck of the bottle or the like. In the area of the face edge of the bottle neck the interior of the closure has a sealing surface for seating on the end face of a bottle neck. The sealing surface (5) has a sealing surface part (8) which is formed on the radial inner side of a projection directed away from the base of the closure part axially and clasping around the bottle neck and which is sloped radially toward the interior and axially counter to the screwing direction. The sloping sealing surface part (8) ensures the centering of the seal, improves the sealing effect, and contributes to the opening of the overpressure valve thereby formed, the opening pressure of which can be influenced through the selection of the degree of slope of the sealing surface part (8).

  • Patent number: 5197621
Abstract: A screw cap comprises an internal screw thread and a braking element for engaging the lead end of the external screw thread on a container for which the cap is intended. When the cap is applied to the container, the braking element progressively retards the screwing movement.

  • Patent number: 4784280
Abstract: The sealing cap (1) has a tear-off safety band (3) on its lower edge, the safety band having inwardly-projecting tongues (6) on its inner wall (5). A clip (7) is provided below each tongue. When a container opening is sealed for the first time, the tongues (6) are bent upwards and engage below a bulge on the container opening. The tongues are prevented from bending downwards by the clips (7), so that when the sealing is first removed, the safety band (3) is torn off.

  • Patent number: 4564112
Abstract: In a closure cap (1) of thermoplastic material, produced by an injection moulding process, the guarantee strip (2) which is formed integrally thereon is provided, at the lower edge (2) of the closure cap, on the outside (6), with a reinforcement portion (5) which is disposed between two desired-rupture connecting web portions (3). Besides the advantages, which are already known, of a reinforcement portion on the guarantee strip, the reinforcement portion according to the invention serves as a support for bearing against the moulding tool in order to prevent stretching of the connecting web portions (3) or deformation of the guarantee strip (2) when the cap is removed from the mould.

  • Patent number: 4489845
Abstract: A screw-cap (1) for closing a container mouth has a sealing lip (5), which is affixed to the cap top (4). The inner side-wall (7) of the sealing lip (5) has a diameter (A) which is greater than the outer diameter (B) of the container outer wall (8). A clamping device, which can be designed as an inner seal (13), creates a contraction of the cap top when the screw-cap is screwed on to the container, by which means the sealing lip (5) is pressed against the container mouth (8). In this manner the sealing lip (5) is only pressed radially against the container mouth during the course of the screwing-on process. In this way over-stretching and damage to the material of the sealing lip can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 4412409
Abstract: In a method of closing a container having an external screw thread with a cap having an internal thread, the cap is located on the container in a pre-positioning or predetermined angular position corresponding to its final angular position and is then pressed into final closed position by axial force. The cap is located in the pre-positioning position by resilient abutments such as an internal seal, head seal, or projections on the cap which are overcome by the pressing force.

  • Patent number: 4349174
Abstract: A container (1) is provided with a cover (2) which has a guarantee strip (4) which can be divided along a design tearing line. In this arrangement, the guarantee strip (4) engages under a holding bead (9) and at the same time is protected from unauthorized manipulation of the guarantee strip, by a protective bead (10). So that the container which is produced by an injection molding process can be produced by means of axially openable molding tools, the holding bead and the protective bead are interrupted in such a way, and are arranged offset relative to each other in gaps, in such a way, that the respective holding bead (9) only extends, on the outside wall of the container, over the length over which the protective bead (10) is interrupted. In this way there is no undercut configuration at any point, which would prevent axial retraction of the molding tools or axial ejection of the container.
