  • Patent number: 7096831
Abstract: In a thermostatic valve for a cooling system of an internal combustion engine with an inlet connection, a first outlet connection and a second outlet connection, and first, second and third valve elements for closing and opening the inlet and first and second outlet connections, at least two wax cartridge thermostats are provided for operating the valve elements and at least one of the wax cartridge thermostats is connected to an electric heating element for influencing the operation of the respective wax thermostat.

  • Patent number: 6502565
Abstract: In a reciprocating internal combustion engine in which a camshaft for actuating the gas exchange valves is disposed in a space, which is in communication with the engine crankcase to receive the vent gases therefrom, and the camshaft includes an axial passage and at least one radial bore and the axial passage is in communication with the engine intake duct for drawing vent gases from the crankcase to the engine intake duct through the camshaft, a disc provided with a radial disc bore is mounted onto the camshaft such that the disc bore is in alignment with the radial camshaft bore and the disc has an axial bore extending therethrough so as to intersect the radial disc bore adjacent the circumference of the disc, whereby vent gases entering the axial disc bore are accelerated in the axial bore and, upon entering the radial bore, oil particles are discharged outwardly through the radial disc bore while the gases flow inwardly through the radial disc bore to the camshaft passage and to the engine intake duct.

  • Patent number: 6405688
Abstract: A cooling circuit for an internal combustion engine has a main heat exchanger for cooling cooling medium circulating in the cooling circuit. A secondary heat exchanger provides heating of heating air to be supplied to a vehicle interior. A thermostatic valve has a simple design which makes it possible to heat the vehicle interior even in the case of a maximum cooling capacity for the internal combustion engine. An inlet of the thermostatic valve is connected to an outlet of the internal combustion engine and a first outlet of the thermostatic valve is connected to an inlet of the main heat exchanger. An outlet of the main heat exchanger is connected to an inlet of the internal combustion engine and a second outlet of the thermostatic valve is connected to the inlet of the internal combustion engine via a short-circuit line.

  • Patent number: 6279553
Abstract: A breathing device for a crankcase of an internal combustion engine, having a balancing shaft with mass-balancing weights. The breathing device is arranged in the cylinder head above the charge-cycle valves of the internal combustion engine and has at least one orifice for the inflow of gas, and a gas-guiding space which runs within the balancing shaft and which is connected to an intake system of the internal combustion engine. A space arranged outside the balancing shaft is connected to the crankcase. In order to reduce construction expenditures and to improve the degree of oil separation, at least one orifice is arranged in at least one of the mass-balancing weights. The orifice opens into at least one axially running feed bore connected to at least one oil-discharging radial bore in the mass-balancing weight. The radial bore communicates the space outside the balancing shaft with the gas-guiding space of the balancing shaft.
