Publication number: 20240079790Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with peripheral conductive housing structures having a segment that forms a resonating element for an antenna. A speaker may be mounted to a mid-chassis of the electronic device. A printed circuit may be mounted to the speaker and may have a ground trace for the antenna. A conductive spring may extend through the printed circuit and the speaker to couple the ground trace to the mid-chassis. A conductive contact pad may be welded to an aluminum layer such as an aluminum layer used to form the mid-chassis. A conductive spring such as the conductive spring coupled to the ground traces may press against the contact pad. The contact pad may include gold or nickel-plated stainless steel. The contact pad may provide a strong electrical connection between the conductive spring and the aluminum layer.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2023Publication date: March 7, 2024Inventors: Peter A Dvorak, Eric W Bates, McKinley McQuaide, Ronald Lam, Ana Papio Toda, Yiren Wang, Hao Xu, Han Wang, Yuan Tao, Jack R Lanzi, Jingni Zhong

Publication number: 20240080976Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with a liquid crystal polymer (LCP) printed circuit having conductive trace and a hole. A conductive flange may be soldered to the conductive trace and may extend into the hole. The end of the conductive flange may laterally surround a central opening within the hole. A conductive contact may be inserted into the central opening. Solder may be deposited over the conductive flange and in the central opening. The solder may couple the conductive contact to the conductive flange and thus the conductive trace. This may ensure a robust mechanical and electrical connection between the conductive contact and the conductive trace on the printed circuit despite the printed circuit being formed from LCP, which may not support copper-plated through vias for coupling to the conductive contact.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2023Publication date: March 7, 2024Inventors: Peter A. Patent number: 11585355Abstract: An electric submersible pump (ESP) with reduced vibration is provided. In an implementation, an ESP section has radial bearings placed at shaft locations of reduced vibration to reduce wear. The locations of reduced vibration are selected to avoid areas of high vibration and vibrational waves that reinforce each other due to structure resonance and natural excitation frequencies. In an implementation, a radial bearing is positioned at a node of reduced vibration of a standing vibrational wave. In an implementation, a succession of multiple radial bearings are spaced at different intervals from each other to avoid conventional even spacing of the bearings that causes standing waves, resonance waves, and vibrational waves at natural excitation frequencies. In an implementation, a span between adjacent radial bearings is selected to spare other adjacent bearings at different spans the effects of vibrations that may extend over a range of excitation frequencies in the ESP section.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2019Date of Patent: February 21, 2023Assignee: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventors: Hao Lam, Arthur I. Watson, Jacques Orban, Lauro De Camargo, David Milton Eslinger

Patent number: 10801491Abstract: The present disclosure introduces apparatuses and methods for assessing health of oilfield pumping equipment. An example pump assembly health monitoring system receives angular position data, including angular positions associated with operation of the pump assembly, and parameter data, including values of a parameter associated with the pump assembly that fluctuates with the angular positions. The monitoring system determines a cepstrum of the parameter data with respect to the angular position data, and determines a ratio of a first amplitude of the cepstrum at a quefrency of about zero to a second amplitude of the cepstrum at a non-zero quefrency. The determined ratio is indicative of a health of a component of the pump assembly.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 2015Date of Patent: October 13, 2020Assignee: Schlumberger Technology CorporationInventors: Carlos Urdaneta, Jijo Oommen Joseph, Hao Lam

Patent number: 9797395Abstract: Apparatus and methods for detecting pump defects in a pumping system comprising multiple pumps. Each pump includes a pump fluid outlet fluidly connected with the pump fluid outlet of the other pumps. Pump defects are detected by generating information related to fluid pressure fluctuations at each pump fluid outlet and determining harmonic frequencies from the information related to fluid pressure fluctuations for each of the plurality of pumps. The amplitude of the harmonic frequencies is indicative of a defective one of the plurality of pumps.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2015Date of Patent: October 24, 2017Assignee: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventors: Carlos Urdaneta, Hao Lam, Rajesh Luharuka
