Patent number: 11717386Abstract: The invention relates to a computer program for specifying a material color of a dental restoration for which the desired tooth color is entered as a target tooth color (56) by the user, said target tooth color being the tooth color of a neighboring tooth, wherein upon specification of the material color of the dental restoration starting from the target tooth color (56) the material color of the dental restoration material is changed based on parameters such as the color of a stump and/or an abutment, the layer thickness of the dental restoration, the type of the dental restoration as well as the processing technique, wherein the specification of the material color of the dental restoration is controlled by the computer program, and wherein, once a parameter is selected, the next parameter is offered automatically, wherein the selection is limited based on parameters which are dependent on one another, such as the layer thickness, the restoration type, that is to say the indication, and the material.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2018Date of Patent: August 8, 2023Assignee: Ivoclar Vivadent AGInventors: Tobias Specht, Oliver Voigt, Michael Mueller, Harald Kerschbaumer

Patent number: 11617635Abstract: A partial dental arch is provided with dentin material and with cutting material and a boundary area therebetween. It includes a primary-position tooth region and additional tooth regions which are arranged more distally. A wavy structure of the boundary area is provided whose amplitude—when viewed in the distal direction—decreases in at least one section of the mesial-distal and/or occlusal-gingival extension, in particular with regard to the occlusal-gingival direction.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2017Date of Patent: April 4, 2023Assignee: Ivoclar Vivadent AGInventors: Clemens Andreas Häfele, Konrad Hagenbuch, Harald Kerschbaumer, Karl Lanbacher, Martin Mitterhofer, Martin Bertagnolli, Andreas Facher

Patent number: 8542360Abstract: The invention relates to a method (100) for producing color elements of a shade guide. To this end, color values of known color elements (15) of shade guides (10) with similar lightness values, hues and chromata are initially ascertained. In another method step, the color values of each new color element are determined while increasing a color distance (16) between the lightness values, hues and chromata of the previously ascertained color values.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2008Date of Patent: September 24, 2013Assignee: Ivoclar Vivadent AGInventor: Harald Kerschbaumer

Patent number: 7341450Abstract: A tooth shade scan system is provided that identifies tooth shades for a patient's tooth. An electronic database of tooth shade information for a shade guide may be stored. The database may include shade information based on tooth regions (e.g., the incisal, central, and cervical). A system operator may be shown an image of a patient's tooth on display equipment such as a computer monitor. An application running on the system may display dividers that the operator can manipulate to divide the image of the patient's tooth into regions. The regions may correspond to regions for which specific tooth shade information is available in the database. Values representative of a limited number of color characteristics for a region as a whole may be determined from the image. Corresponding categories of color characteristics may exist in the database, which is then used to identify tooth shades by region for the patient's tooth.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2003Date of Patent: March 11, 2008Assignees: Shade Analyzing Technologies, Inc., Ivoclar Vivadent AGInventors: Graham Pye, Harald Kerschbaumer
