  • Publication number: 20160262073
Abstract: The disclosure relates generally to supporting a maximum fill link capability for a bonded session. The maximum fill link capability may be configured to control allocation of user device traffic of a user device across multiple bearers of a bonded data plane session supported for the user device. The maximum fill link capability may be provided at a gateway device associated with the bonded data plane session, which may be a network gateway device for downstream user device traffic or a customer gateway device for upstream user device traffic. The maximum fill link capability may be configured to determine an allocation of the user device traffic of a user device data plane session to multiple bearers of the user device data plane session based on policy information associated with the user device data plane session and based on traffic monitoring performed for the user device traffic of the user device data plane session.

  • Patent number: 8855125
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and machine readable storage medium is disclosed for handling Network-Request-Support (NRS) and Bearer Control Mode (BCM) at a Policy and Charging Rules Node (PCRN) and a Evolved Packet Core (EPC) gateway node. Embodiments maintain corresponding buffers for NRS values at the PCRN and the gateway and maintain synchronization between them. A gateway sends a credit control request (CCR) message to a PCRN and updates a local NRS buffer at the gateway when a successful credit control acknowledgement (CCA) response is received from the PCRN. Similarly, the PCRN updates a local NRS buffer at the PCRN when a successful credit control acknowledgement (CCA) response is sent to the gateway.

  • Patent number: 7920523
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of handing off a mobile unit that supports multiple quality-of-service (QoS) application layer clients that operate according to multiple wireless access technologies in a packet-switched communication system. The method includes receiving information indicating a request to hand off the mobile unit from a first access network that operates according to a first wireless access technology to a second access network that operates according to a second wireless access technology. The mobile unit established a first session according to the first wireless access technology at a first QoS level. The method also includes establishing, concurrently with the first session and in response to receiving the handoff request, a second session according to the second wireless access technology at the first QoS level. The method further includes communicating with the mobile unit at the first QoS level using the first and second sessions.
