    Abstract: A well-pressure operated pump having a tubular pump body provided with an interior, annular seating surface to receive a valve member mounted on a rod extending through the seating surface. An air spring in the pump body urges the rod upwardly in response to fluid pressure in the pump body and the height of the seating surface and the position of the valve member on the rod are adjustable for adjusting the well pressure at which the valve member is seated. Seal assemblies mounted on the pump body are adjustable to match the pump to the internal diameter of the well casing and the seal assemblies are provided with retainer rings having flanges that capture end portions of a sealing member of each seal assembly. A brake, having a plate that is spring loaded to overlay a shoulder in the bore of the pump body, slows the rate of descent of the pump through gases in the well. An aspirator formed in the support for the plate holds the plate off the shoulder during passage of the pump through liquids in the well.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a transferred arc plasma torch in which a tubular anode is mounted in a bore at the lower end of a barrel of the torch, the bore being formed at a preselected angle to the axis of the barrel. The cathode is a length of tungsten rod which is held in a coaxial relation with the anode by cementing the end of an electrode holder, which mounts the cathode, into an insulating tube which extends through the barrel and forming a silicone rubber sleeve between the insulating tube and a bore formed in lower portions of the barrel such that the sleeve adheres to the insulating tube and the barrel. The silicone rubber sleeve and the cemented connection between the insulating tube and the cathode holder are formed adjacent one end of the anode so that the cemented end of the electrode holder is substantially fixed in relation to the anode.

    Abstract: A globe type Y-pattern diaphragm valve for high pressure, high temperature service affording increased diaphragm cycle life, enhanced flow coefficient and features of decreased construction cost. Comprising the diaphragm in one embodiment is a resiliently supported multi-layer cartridge formed of superimposed layers of different metals having different moduli of elasticity with the upper layers being radially slotted to redistribute encountered stress loads. In an alternate embodiment the multi-layer diaphragm cartridge is comprised of superimposed layers of like composition but of varying relative thicknesses and supported to afford a controlled flexure. An auxiliary porting in the discharge passage adjacent the valve head in combination with a downstream tapered and faired beltway effects a more nearly streamlined flow path to increase the flow coefficient rating of the valve.
