    Abstract: A method for detecting the presence of termites and killing termites by exposing the termites to a termiticide, includes locating a monitoring device in ground adjacent a building. The monitoring device has an integral termite indicator mechanism for indicating the presence of termites within the monitoring device that provides an aboveground visible signal that termites are present within the monitoring device. The termite indicator mechanism is actuated by a trigger mechanism that includes a termite food source that, when fed upon by termites, actuates the visible signal of the termite indicator mechanism to indicate the presence of termites in the monitoring device. After the visible signal has been actuated, a termiticide is introduced into the monitoring device and/or the ground adjacent the monitoring device to expose termites to the termiticide as the termites pass between a termite colony and the monitoring device and/or feed within the monitoring device.

    Abstract: A method of applying a chemical material, such as a pesticide, to a surface utilizes a wheel mounted spraying assembly. The wheel mounted spraying assembly includes: a rod having a wheel rotatably mounted on its lower end portion for supporting the spraying assembly on a generally horizontal surface and enabling the spraying assembly to be moved over the surface; a spray nozzle mounted on the spraying assembly adjacent the wheel; a supply line for supplying a chemical material under pressure to the spray nozzle; and a control for controlling the flow of the chemical material to and through the spray nozzle. The spray nozzle is oriented to spray the chemical material in an expanding pattern in an outward direction to one side of the lower portion of the spraying assembly to apply the chemical material to a generally vertical and/or generally horizontal surface.

    Abstract: A pesticide application system includes an anchor conduit and a dispensing tube for dispensing a pressurized fluid pesticide into an interior cavity of a hollow wall. The anchor conduit functions to convey a pressurized fluid pesticide from an outside surface of the hollow wall into the interior cavity of the hollow wall and anchors the pressurized fluid pesticide dispensing tube to the hollow wall. The anchor conduit has an opening at an outer end for connecting the system to a pressurized fluid pesticide dispenser. The dispensing tube is mounted on an inner end of the anchor conduit to dispense pressurized fluid pesticide into the wall cavity. The anchor conduit of the system may be placed directly in the wall, in a cover plate on the wall or in a utility cover plate on the wall or the anchor conduit may be an integral part of a cover plate on the wall.

    Abstract: An insect lure or bait container for attracting insects for treatment with a pesticide has an opening therein for the subterranean ingress and egress of insects and, preferably, contains a cellulose fiber lure of a coherent deformable compressible mass of randomly oriented, entangled, softwood fibers that is held together by entanglement of the fibers. Preferably, for treating termite colonies, the pesticide is a non-repellent termiticide, which is lethal to termites through matrix contact as well as through ingestion and/or transferal.

    Abstract: A termite lure for use with a hole passing through a slab includes: a tubular container housing a mass of entangled cellulose fibers or a grouping of fiberboard disks; and a rod having a length greater than that of the container or grouping of fiberboard disks extending through the container or grouping. The container or grouping is slidably retained on the rod so that the lure can be easily repositioned along the length of the rod. The lure may also include an expansible plug that seals the hole in the slab. Preferably, the termite lure is used with a non-repellant termiticide and the lure in placed in the hole with the cellulose fibers or the lowermost disk of the lure in contact with the soil beneath the hole.

    Abstract: A core hole plug assembly for covering and sealing a hole in a paved surface, wall or other structure. The core hole plug assembly includes: a cover plate, a resilient expansible cylindrical plug, a compression plate, and a bolt and nut assembly for moving the compression plate relative to the cover plate to expand or reduce the outside diameter of the expansible plug. The compression plate is permanently secured to a lower end portion of the expansible plug and, preferably, the upper end of the expansible plug is permanently secured to the underside of the cover plate.

    Abstract: A termite lure for use with an hole passing through a slab includes: a tubular container with an open lower end; a mass of entangled cellulose fibers within the container; a rod having a length greater than that of the container extending through the container; and a retainer, for slidably retaining the container on the rod, that leaves an hole at the lower end of the container through which termites can gain access to the mass of cellulose fibers within the tubular container. The lure may also include an expansible plug that seals the hole in the slab to which the rod may be attached. Preferably, the termite lure is used with a non-repellant termiticide and the lure in placed in the hole with the cellulose fibers in contact with the soil beneath the hole.

    Abstract: A termite colony is treated with a termiticide by locating a bait station on or beneath ground surface, adjacent a building, to attract termites in the region. The bait station container holds nontoxic cellulose bait. An opening in the bottom permits termites' ingress and egress to feed on the bait within the container. An opening in the top permits termite activity within the container to be monitored without disturbing the bait within the container and permits a termiticide to be introduced directly into the soil and termite tunnel tubes beneath the container by passing a termiticide injection tube through the openings in the container and into the soil beneath the container. Preferably, the termiticide is a non-repellent termiticide, which is lethal to termites through ingestion, contact and/or transferal.

    Abstract: A pesticide delivery system includes a service box and a plurality of tubular delivery and dispensing lines for carrying a pesticide from the service box to locations in a building structure and dispensing the pesticide in those locations to control and exterminate pests. The service box includes a plate with holes through which elastic end portions of the tubular delivery and dispensing lines pass. Each of the holes has a conical frustum shaped portion and an annular edge portion that has the smallest diameter of the hole and is less in diameter than an outside diameter, in an unstressed or unstretched state, of the elastic end portion of the tubular delivery and dispensing line passing through the hole whereby the annular edge portion of the hole grips and locks the tubular delivery and dispensing line in place.

    Abstract: A termiticide emitter system forms a physical termite barrier and delivers termiticide to potential termite entry areas of the fill dirt underneath the concrete foundation slab of a building, including the peripheral edges and along expansion joints and controlled cracks of the concrete foundation slab. With this system no vapor barrier sheet is required intermediate the underside of the concrete foundation slab and the fill dirt. A main component of the system is a flexible, polymeric termiticide emitter tube which is disposed intermediate an upper surface of the fill dirt and the underside of the concrete foundation slab at the peripheral edges of and along any expansion joints and controlled cracks in the concrete foundation slab.
