  • Publication number: 20170332968
Abstract: Provided are location devices that identify the location for measuring physiological conditions, methods of operating the device, and computer program products for use with the device. The location device provides improved reliability in measurement data since it consistently provides the location for the measurements. In the context of a location device, an apparatus is provided that includes a structure configured to be attached to the skin of a user and configured to identify a location for physiological measurement. The structure has a shape configured to correspond to a portion of the user that is in a predefined positional relationship to the location for the physiological measurement. As such, the structure is configured to engage the portion of the user in order to identify the location for the physiological measurement. The location device may include one or more sensors for measuring physiological conditions or may work in conjunction with one or more sensors.

  • Patent number: 9364861
Abstract: A tube-shaped assembly, a tube-shaped part and an associated method of manufacturing the same are provided. In regards to a method, a glass or plastic tube is provided that has a maskant positioned upon an interior region of the tube to define a window. The method also includes coating an interior surface of the tube with a tinted anti-splinter material having a dye or pigment mixed therein. The method also includes curing the tinted anti-splinter material and removing the maskant such that the interior region is free of the tinted anti-splinter material. A tube-shaped part is also provided that includes a glass or plastic tube and a maskant positioned upon an interior region of the tube to define a window. The tube-shaped part also includes a tinted anti-splinter material having a dye or pigment mixed therein.

  • Patent number: 9294600
Abstract: An electronic device comprises electronic circuitry and a molded plastic covering (5). In order to prevent ingress of water and dust, a hermetic seal is provided between the covering (5) and components that are accessible through the covering (5), such as a socket (7) or display, or components such as electrical connections (9). The components (7, 9) are at least partially coated in a coating material 15, such as a thermally activated polyurethane adhesive or thin thermoplastic, to provide a strong bond to the covering (5) that does not require the use of solder. The device may be a wearable device in which waterproof sealing is required.

  • Publication number: 20090004557
Abstract: An apparatus including a functional component; a first thermoset plastic layer overlying the functional component; and a second thermoset plastic layer, different to the first thermoset plastic layer, overlying the first thermoset plastic layer. A method including pre-protecting a functional component by: forming a first thermoset plastic layer over the functional component; and then forming a second thermoset plastic layer over the first thermoset plastic layer; and using the pre-protected component in an injection molding process.
