  • Patent number: 5480045
Abstract: A blow molded container has a cylindrical neck portion with novel seven circumferentially spaced continuous spiral thread configurations on its exterior to immediately receive and engage an improved tamper indicating flexible cap comprising a top with an annular depending wall on its peripheral edge and seven circumferentially spaced continuous spiral thread configurations on the inner surface of the annular depending wall. The novel constructions enable the tamper indicating flexible cap to immediately engage the lead-in ends of the seven circumferentially spaced thread patterns on the exterior of the neck of the container without the heretofore necessary rotation of the prior art caps in order to engage the single spiral thread configuration on the neck of the container.

  • Patent number: 5284265
Abstract: A snap on non-replaceable cap for a plastic school milk bottle neck finish with an external annular rib has a top with an inwardly spaced sealing flange depending therefrom, the outer surface of the sealing flange is shaped downwardly and inwardly. A tear skirt having an inturned annular flange forming the peripheral edge of the top is joined to the top by a thin semi-annular tear line. An inturned rib is formed on the inner surface of the tear skirt which locks under the external rib on the neck finish. The tear skirt, including the inturned annular flange may be completely or partially torn away from the top to permit the top to be removed. To facilitate removal, the tear skirt is formed with a second tear line from a lower edge thereof to the thin semi-annular tear line in the top. A pull tab is formed adjacent the second tear line functions as a lift tab to remove the cap. The top and its depending sealing flange prevent the same from being replaced on the bottle.

  • Patent number: 5224616
Abstract: A snap on non-replaceable cap for a plastic bottle neck has an upper skirt and an inwardly spaced sealing flange, the inner opposed surfaces of the upper skirt and the sealing flange are curved downwardly and away from one another. A tear skirt is joined to the lowermost edge of the upper skirt to form a thin circumferential tear line. An inturned rib is formed on the inner surface of the tear skirt which locks under an external rib on the neck. The tear skirt, including the inturned rib, may be completely or partially torn off to permit the cap to be removed. To facilitate removal, the tear skirt is formed with a vertical tear line from the lower edge thereof to the circumferential tear line. A tab formed adjacent the vertical tear line functions as a lift tab.

  • Patent number: 4884707
Abstract: A resilient plastic bottle cap for a five-gallon water bottle of the type having a crowned neck including an external upper bead, the cap having a top portion with a depending skirt which fits snuggly around the exterior of the bottle neck and so long as it remains intact prevents tampering with the contents. An inner annular groove divides the depending skirt into upper and lower portions and an inner groove is formed between the annular groove and the lower edge of the lower part of the depending skirt and adjacent a tab so that the lower part of the skirt may be torn off to permit easy removal of the cap from the water bottle. Several inturned annular flanges are formed on the inner surface of the depending skirt to form multiple flexible seals and retaining means engaging the external upper bead of the water bottle.

  • Patent number: 4834252
Abstract: A tamper evident flexible closure with an integral formed handle for a container having a neck portion with a fastening configuration surrounding an opening therein and an annular outturned rib therebelow; the closure including a cap portion with an annular depending flange on its peripheral edge, a tear shirt including a pull tab depending from said annular depending flange and a ring carrying a handle depending from the tear skirt, the tear skirt and the ring being capable of extending over the annular rib on the container to position the ring below the annular rib and arranged to support the container and its contents by the handle before and after the tear skirt has been removed.

  • Patent number: 4801032
Abstract: A closure for containers, such as a blow molded jug having a neck surrounding an opening therein and a pair of vertically spaced fastening configurations on the exterior thereof, the closure having a cap portion and an annular tear skirt depending therefrom. The cap portion and the tear skirt having vertically spaced fastening configurations and a frangible annular wall joining the tear skirt and the cap portion between said fastening configurations. The tear skirt having a vertically positioned frangible wall and a pull tab formed integrally with the tear skirt at one side of said vertical frangible wall and of a height equal to said tear skirt. Vertically positioned ribs on the opposite sides of said pull tab facilitating manual grasping of said pull tab and removing the tear skirt from the closure so as to permit the closure to be removed from the container on which it is applied.
