  • Publication number: 20080016724
Abstract: A sole for use in footwear that includes an upper surface for contacting the user's foot and a lower surface for engaging a walking surface. The sole extends beneath the heel through the ankle/sub-talar complex and metatarsal head of the user. The lower surface is characterized as having a convex lower surface beneath the ankle/sub-talar complex curving upwardly toward the heel and metatarsal head.

  • Publication number: 20040118020
Abstract: A support apparatus for supporting the plantar fascia of a foot. The support apparatus is made of an elastic material expandable in the width and longitudinal axis of the foot. When in operative position on the foot, the apparatus frictionally remains in place mid the first metatarsal bone and extends behind the heel of the foot above its os calcis bone such that when the foot is caused to bear weight, the apparatus expands along the longitudinal axis of the foot to its limit of expandability such that the arch of the foot is maintained substantially unchanged as the foot alternates between load bearing and non-load bearing orientations.

  • Patent number: 4599915
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a pedal for use on any pedal powered vehicle or device, including bicycles and stationary bicycles, such as exercise bicycles, which is adjustable in one to three planes of movement. The adjustable pedal comprises a platform mounted on a shaft for supporting the foot, and one or more of the following: means for positioning the platform along a radial axis generally perpendicular to the axis of the shaft to provide a lifted position for the foot, means permitting the platform to tilt about the radial axis in a direction generally parallel to the shaft axis to provide inverted and everted positions for the foot, and means permitting the platform to pivot about the radial axis to provide toe-in and toe-out positions for the foot.

  • Patent number: 4137654
Abstract: A device for use in footwear to correct and prevent problems associated with the human foot. The device includes upstanding side and rear walls which are integrally joined with a lower wedge to form a heel cup that closely fits with and supports the heel bone with respect to vertical. An upper planar surface of the wedge inclines at a predetermined lateral angle for controlling contact position and movement of the heel bone during locomotion. A support anchor projects forwardly from the wedge and terminates in a pointed distal end which is located toward the medial side of the foot.
