  • Patent number: 11253965
Abstract: Methods and devices for supporting a workpiece on support slats of a workpiece support during machining of the workpiece by thermal separation by a separation beam directed onto the workpiece are provided. In one aspect, a support slat includes support projections on a workpiece side extending in a longitudinal direction of the support slat. The support projections follow one after another in the longitudinal direction at a mutual distance to form projection gaps. On an underside of at least one support projection remote from the workpiece side, the support slat defines a recess covered by the support projection toward the workpiece side. The recess extends in a transverse direction of the support slat. The support projection covering the recess is separably connected to the rest of the support slat and is separable from the support slat with opening the recess toward the workpiece side.

  • Publication number: 20040108305
Abstract: Method and device for cutting out sheet metal blanks preferably from a coil (2) of a thin sheet metal strip (4), with stepped uncoiling and straightening of the metal strip (4) in the longitudinal direction of the device on a processing platform (10). In a first operation, the metal strip (4) is gripped above the processing platform (10) by a lateral clamping frame (14) and tensioned in the transverse direction relative to the feed direction. In a cutting position (6) the strip (4) is initially cut except for the webs that hold the blanks in the residual strip (4). The initially cut strip (4), still clamped, is then moved into a depositing position (7) above a depositing platform (12) by pull-out rollers (8) that tension the metal strip (4) in the longitudinal direction. The precut strip (4) and the cutting head(s) (15) are jointly moved into the depositing position where the cutting head(s) (15) that performed the main cutting operation severs the webs and the blanks are stacked in sorted fashion.

  • Patent number: 6164828
Abstract: A mounting assembly for a machine tool carriage is driven by linear motors (4) at each end guided on fixed parallel rails running parallel to one another. At each end the bridge of the carriage has bearing plates seated on the linear motor friction plates against which it is urged by spring force. As each end of the bridge has a mounting bolt extending through the bridge and bear plate and is pivotably seated in a guide aperture in the carrier. On at least one end of the bridge, the guide bolt aperture is elongated so that the bridge can pivot about the guide bolt at the other end.

  • Patent number: 6012653
Abstract: A modular abrasive agent water jet cutting head (1) has a nozzle (4) issuing a high-speed water jet (16), a mixing chamber (10) through which the high speed water jet passes (16), an abrasive agent supply line (14), and a focussing nozzle (15) forming the outlet of the mixing chamber (10). A dosing unit (12) has an axial passage of the high-speed water jet (16). The passage (18) has one or more expansions or channels (11) extending radially and which are of reduced cross section at the passage. There are preferably in each case are formed as a slits, which are only slightly wider than the diameter of the thickest abrasive particle. The expansion or channel (11) is closely connected to the passage of the high-speed water jet (16) and introduces the abrasive agent into a chordal section of the water jet (16) which is oriented in the direction of the cutting action. From there the high-speed water jet (16) receives a track of abrasive agent on its surface.

  • Patent number: 5505653
Abstract: An abrasive/water jet cutting apparatus has a frame, a carriage movably supported for movement over a work table on the frame, and a water jet cutting head on the carriage. A main storage container for abrasive is provided and an intermediate storage container for abrasive is supported on the carriage. A connecting arm has a pivotal connection at its one end to the frame and a pivotal connection at its other end to the carriage. The arm also has a pivotal connection intermediate its length so that it pivots about the pivotal connections during movement of the carriage. A suction line from the main storage container extends along the connecting arm to the intermediate storage container to supply abrasive thereto, and a high pressure line extending from a high pressure fluid source extends along the connecting arm to the cutting head. The high pressure line is resiliently deflectable at the pivotal connections about which it extends, and the vacuum line is resiliently deflectable.

  • Patent number: 5349788
Abstract: A water jet cutting apparatus has a line catcher for water and abrasive passing through the worktable comprising a carriage on the frame is movable above a pervious worktable and carries a water jet cutting head. A pan ia supported on the frame and spaced below the worktable, and a collector extends transversely of the frame between the worktable and pan for movement along the length of the worktable in alignment with the cutting head, and has a drain. An insert member is supported in the collector and drains into the collector. A settling tank cooperates with a sludge pump with a conduit from the pan to the settling tank to transport water and abrasive material to the tank. A rinsing pump has a conduit from the settling tank to the collector to draw water from the settling tank and flush abrasive from the collector outwardly of the drain into the pan.
