  • Patent number: 5108642
Abstract: A solid detergent composition for cleaning hard surfaces comprises an active detergent constituent which also serves as a carrier material, and a cleaning constituent. The cleaning constituent can comprise an acidic material, which is effective to remove soap scum from hard surfaces, or a bleach functional at a basic pH which is effective to bleach mildew. The detergent constituent comprises the essentially anhydrous neutralization product of an anionic surfactant such as a linear alkylbenzene sulfonic acid and a solid neutralizing material, such as a salt, oxide, or hydroxide of an alkali or alkaline earth metal, including sodium carbonate. The cleaning constituent, along with a filler material, is added to the detergent constituent during the course of and prior to the termination of the neutralization reaction. Also disclosed is a reusable scrubber pad incorporating the solid detergent composition.

  • Patent number: 4820579
Abstract: A scrubber pad preferably of flat rectangular parallelpiped-shaped characterized by good cleaning properties, safety to surfaces, and soap retention, prepared by, selecting a polyester polyurethane foam having the desired density and porosity, binding a polyesters spun bonded non-woven material to one side of said foam, impregnating the foam with a detergent formulation containing alkyl aryl sulfonate, sodium carbonate, magnesium sulfate and sodium sulfate, perfume and water. Cutting the impregnated product into pads of the desired shape and size and sealing the edges of the pads by application of the adhesive.

  • Patent number: 4501680
Abstract: An acidic liquid detergent composition for cleaning ceramic tiles without eroding the grout between the tiles comprises minor proportions of partially neutralized glutaric acid, partially neutralized phosphoric acid, surface active condensation product of ethylene oxide and higher linear alcohol of 10 to 20 carbon atoms, such as the condensation product of a linear secondary alcohol averaging about 13 carbon atoms with about 20 moles of ethylene oxide, and mono-lower alkyl ether of diethylene glycol, such as the butyl ether of diethylene glycol, and a major proportion of water, with the pH of the composition being within the range of 3 to 5, preferably 4.0. The composition is found to be an excellent bathroom cleaner, being especially useful for cleaning soap scum and other soil from ceramic tile, porcelain ware, such as bathtubs and sinks, and from other hard surfaces.
