  • Patent number: 5858493
Abstract: A tapered pole for supporting electric power lines, telephone lines, or an electric lamp which includes two tapered plastic, generally rigid sleeves positioned concentric to a longitudinal axis with the space between the sleeves being filled with a plurality of longitudinal generally continuous filaments encased in a solid plastic material; and a method of preparing such a pole by pushing or pulling the inside sleeve into an outside sleeve while filling the space between the sleeves with a liquid plastic material with reinforcing fibers or filaments being positioned into the space as movement occurs and the liquid plastic fills that space. The fibers are generally continuous and the per inch distribution between the ends of the pole are generally equal. End caps seal the ends against the weather elements.

  • Patent number: 5576081
Abstract: An elongated structural element includes an external tubular casing (11) with the hollow interior space filled with a polymer binder (12) containing a plurality of elongated parallel continuous strands of fiber reinforcement material (13) extending lengthwise of the element. A method for preparing such an element is provided by filling a preformed tubular casing (11) with a polymer binder (12) in liquid form in which is dispersed the fiber reinforcement material (13) and allowing the polymer binder to solidify. The element may be initially shaped prior to solidification or reheated into another shape such as a helical coil or spring. An internal casing (29) can also be used where the fiber reinforcement strands (13) are between the external and internal casings (11) and (29).

  • Patent number: 5004574
Abstract: A method of making an elongated structural element of fiber reinforced plastic material with a solid walled casing. A hollow tubular casing is generally simultaneously filled with elongated strands of continuous fibrous reinforcement and plastic material and solidified. The casing is part of the final product. An internal casing may also be used where the fiber reinforced plastic is between the internal and external casings. The elongated structural element may be initially shaped prior to solidification or after reheating reshaped into another shape such as a helical coil or spring.

  • Patent number: 4714377
Abstract: Joint for telescoping pipe sections including aligned recesses in both sections, sealing gaskets spaced apart from both edges of the recesses and compressed against both pipe sections, and solidifiable grout filling the recesses and all space between the sealing gaskets. A method of laying pipe sections underground and sealing the pipe joints from above ground.
