Also disclosed is a method of producing such a heat-sensitive recording material.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a recording material utilizing a reaction between a colorless or light-colored dye precursor and a color developer capable of forming a color upon coming into contact with the dye precursor, the recording material being characterized in that the material comprises at least one compound serving as the dye precursor and represented by the formula (1), and an acidic substance serving as the color developer ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 to R.sub.6, p and q are defined in the specification. At least one selected from the group consisting of phenolic compounds of the formulae (10), (11) and (12) and phenolic resin having a partial structure of the formula (13) can be used, as required, to further improve the color forming properties and change the color of recorded images from reddish purple or purple to blue or dark blue.
