  • Patent number: 4457345
Abstract: A yarn is prepared from a mixture of textile staple fibers and active carbon staple fibers which consists of 5 to 75%, preferably 20 to 40%, of the latter by weight, by chopping active carbon monofilaments into staple fibers, mixing them with textile staple fibers in a liquid vehicle, separating the fibers from the liquid vehicle and spinning them to yarn which can be used in weaving fabrics of tensile strengths of as much as 2000 newtons per 5 centimeters, which in turn can be used in making filters and protective suits.

  • Patent number: 4455187
Abstract: The invention relates to a filter sheet material composed of an air-permeable, flexible, especially textile supporting layer, on which there is imprinted in a certain pattern a mixture containing an adsorbent in powder form and a polymeric binding agent, the adsorbent covering up to 90% of the surface of the supporting layer. The invention furthermore relates to the use of such filter sheet materials with active carbon as adsorbent for protective clothing, and to the preparation of the material by rotary screen printing from a paste made of the powdered adsorbent and a dispersion of the polymeric binding agent.

  • Patent number: 4454191
Abstract: A waterproof and moisture-conducting fabric comprising a base permeable to water vapor and sealed with a closed coating of a hydrophilic polymer. The sealing coating is advantageously a compressed foam of an acrylic resin modified with polyvinyl chloride or polyurethane. A second base may be laminated onto the sealing layer. Protective fillers such as lead compounds and carbon may be included in or on the coating. The fabric is suited for protective clothing articles such as rescue-at-sea garments and shoe uppers, and sleeping bags.
