  • Publication number: 20230073241
Abstract: The invention concerns the area of ceramics an relates to a method for separating impurities from silicon carbide, said method being applicable to SiC powders from grinding sludges, and to temperature-treated and purified silicon carbide powder. The aim of the invention is to provide a method with which different impurities are substantially completely removed using a simple and economical process. This is achieved by a method in which pulverulent SiC waste products that have a mass percent of SiC of at least 50% and an average grain size d50 ranging from 0.5 to 1000 ?m and have been subjected to a temperature treatment and cooled are mechanically treated and physically separated. The physically separated SiC powder is then divided into two fractions, one of which has a mass of impurities that is greater than the mass of impurities in the other fraction at least by a factor of 2.

  • Patent number: 9683598
Abstract: The invention relates to the field of materials science and to a device for reducing pressure in cavities in media at higher temperatures, such as those devices which can be used for devices for hot-dip coating metal materials in the metal processing industry for example. The aim of the invention is to provide a device by means of which pressure can be reduced in the cavity of the hollow bodies in a reliable and controlled manner and simultaneously the penetration of the media can be delayed or completely prevented at the higher temperatures. This is achieved by a device for reducing pressure in hollow bodies in media at higher temperatures, wherein at least one opening to the cavity of the hollow body is provided in hollow body regions which are not used for the intended application, said opening being closed from the medium surrounding the hollow body by at least one component made of a gas-permeable metal or ceramic material.

  • Patent number: 6547967
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of ceramics and to a ceramic network which can, for example, be applied as a deep-bed filter and a method for the production and utilization thereof. The present invention provides a ceramic network in which the mechanical stability is improved and/or an application-dependent structure can be specifically adjusted. To this end, a ceramic network is provided which comprises two or three dimensional ceramic struts that are connected to one another. The cavities in the ceramic struts have a cross-sectional area with a circular or approximately circular or extensively circular or a convex or multiply convex contour. In addition, a method is provided in which a fiber network is produced. The fiber network comprises polymer fibers and/or natural fibers and/or other fibers, with the fibers each having cross-sectional area with a circular or approximately circular or extensively circular or a convex or multiply convex contour.
