  • Patent number: 8978403
Abstract: A cooling apparatus for electric equipment includes a generator configured to receive a heat load from first electric components, a evaporator configured to receive a heat load from second electric components, a closed compartment enclosing the generator and evaporator, and a absorber transferring heat from heated fluid to the outside of the closed compartment. To obtain an efficient and reliable cooling apparatus, the cooling apparatus includes a first expansion device which reduces the pressure of the fluid, and forwards the fluid in a liquid state and with a lower pressure to the secondary cooling element, which transfers heat to the received fluid from the second electric components for evaporating the fluid.

  • Publication number: 20140352927
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an apparatus having an evaporator with a base plate having a first surface for receiving a heat load from one or more electric components, tubes that partly penetrate into the base plate via a second surface of the base plate for providing evaporator channels which are embedded into the base plate and condenser channels which are located outside of the base plate. In order to obtain a compact and efficient apparatus, the connecting parts can include hollow sections located within the tubes, each hollow section connecting the channels of a tube to each other in a vicinity of an end of the tube in order to allow fluid to flow between the channels of the tube via the hollow section.

  • Patent number: 8602065
Abstract: A simple and reliable anticipatory failure indicator is provided for fluid circulation piping, and a fluid cooling arrangement including such an indicator is provided. The indicator includes a first sacrificial member, which is designed to be in direct contact with the fluid within the piping and designed to be weaker than the piping. The indicator includes a chamber, which is isolated from the fluid circulation at least partly by means of the first sacrificial member. The indicator includes an electrical response member, which is arranged into the chamber and which is configured to produce an electrical response upon exposure to the fluid, which has entered to the chamber via a failed sacrificial member. Accordingly, the indicator is configured to provide an electrical response as a direct indication of a failed sacrificial member and as an anticipatory indication of failed piping.
