  • Patent number: 6885866
Abstract: Handover in a cellular radio system having several frequency ranges is problematic e.g. from the viewpoint of network capacity utilization. The invention concerns a handover-method, especially in a cellular radio system having at least two frequency ranges, wherein the broadcasting is transmitted in a first frequency range and handover to a second frequency range is started. The method according to the invention is characterized in that bursts transmitted by the mobile station (MS) and relating to the handover signalling are measured therein at the base transceiver station (BTS), the measurement results are compared with a pre-established criterion and handover is completed only when the criterion is met.

  • Patent number: 6718176
Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, by which to display positional data related to one or more mobile stations operable in a cellular or other radio communication system. The positional data is displayed at a display device of the selected mobile station. The positional data is overlaid upon, or otherwise displayed together with, a map display of an area encompassing the location at which the mobile station is identified to be positioned. A user of the mobile station at which the positional data and map display are displayed is able to ascertain the position of the mobile station merely by viewing the display.
