  • Patent number: 6368244
Abstract: A bowl mill transmission which has a high overall transmission ratio and a high output torque, is of compact construction and is simple to assemble, is equipped with a vertically arranged bevel-gear stage for power input and a multi-stage epicyclic transmission arrangement for power output into a thrust ring of the bowl mill.

  • Patent number: 5088969
Abstract: A bifurcated transmission drive includes one input shaft and at least two output shafts. The input shaft drives a planetary differential gear having two output elements. One output element drives one output shaft through a first gear train while the other output element drives the other output shaft through a second gear train. The first gear train and the second gear train are coupled through an interconnecting third gear train. As a result, the two output shafts will rotate at the same speed and with the same torque independent of the loads on the output shafts.

  • Patent number: 4926715
Abstract: A planetary gear train comprising at least two planetary gear sets arranged coaxially behind, and drivingly connected with, one another, of which one planetary gear set (5) contains fewer, and the other planetary set (17) more, planet gears (7) and the planet gears and their bearings in both planetary gear sets are identically constructed. The pitch diameter of the sun gear (16) and the pitch diameter of the ring bear (18) of the other planetary gear set (17) are larger than in one planetary gear set (5), and both sets (5, 17) are constructed for approximately the same line loading of the sun gears, planet gears, and ring gears (force per face width in the contact line of two teeth which bear against each other). Thus, a gear unit is obtained which has a smaller cross section with up to 50% savings in weight.

  • Patent number: 4584903
Abstract: A twin screw extruder drive system includes a pair of parallel juxtaposed output shafts each of which is fixed to a sun gear of a planetary gear set. Each gear set includes a plurality of planet idler gears which are only rotatable about their axes and engage both the sun gear and a ring gear. Symmetrically disposed about the circumference of the ring gear are at least two drive pinions. The two gear sets have parallel axes and are axially offset from one another with the output shafts extending through a space between the planet gears of the other gear set. In one embodiment each drive pinion is driven by a separate electric motor and all motors are electronically and mechanically speed synchronized. A single electric motor is employed to drive all drive pinions in an alternate configuration.

  • Patent number: 4574659
Abstract: A precision drive for positioning azimuth and elevation angles of a solar energy collector apparatus includes a casing mounted for rotation about a vertical shaft. The casing carries a pair of motor driven gear trains. A primary stage reduction gearing of each train comprises a cyclo-gear or a harmonic drive, while the secondary stage includes a monoplanetary gear train having a planet gear mounted to an eccentric carrier. The planet gear teeth simultaneously engage a fixed ring gear and a rotatable ring gear. The output of the primary stage drives the carrier, and the rotatable ring gear provides output rotation. One gear train engages a pinion fixed to the vertical shaft for rotating the casing about the shaft, while the rotatable ring gear of the other gear train engages a horizontal shaft for adjustment of the elevation angle.

  • Patent number: 4297917
Abstract: A driving gear assembly for a double helix extruder. The assembly includes a multiple power path from a transmission gear to produce synchronism in the extruder helix shafts. The structure of the gearing enables a simple adjustment of the proper mesh of the extruder helices when mounting the gearing by mere disengagement and re-engagement of a (normally not disengageable) tooth coupling.
