  • Patent number: 5720053
Abstract: The quantity of water which is discharged from a flushing tank into a toilet bowl is regulated by accelerating or decelerating the descent of a float in a housing which is installed in the tank. The float carries an actuator which is provided with a valving element serving to seal an outlet of the tank when the float descends in the housing to a selected level as a result of flow of water from the housing into the tank through one or more openings in the housing. Each opening is controlled by a discrete valve which can be closed or opened to a selected extent by the actuator.

  • Patent number: 5123125
Abstract: A flushing tank for a toilet has a housing which accommodates a body of flushing water. An evacuating unit is disposed in the flushing water and includes a flushing valve, a vertical tubular member whose lower end constitutes part of the flushing valve and a vertical suction pipe for the removal of foul odors from the toilet. The upper end of the suction pipe is connected to the upper end of the tubular member while the lower end of the suction pipe communicates with a filter or with a line which conducts foul odors away from the toilet. A suction generating unit draws foul air into and through the suction pipe. The tubular member is movable up-and-down to open and close the flushing valve. The evacuating unit is mounted in an opening in the bottom of the housing and the opening is connected to the toilet bowl. The flushing water flows through the flushing valve and the opening into the toilet bowl when the flushing valve is opened.

  • Patent number: 4998299
Abstract: A toilet wherein the bowl is connected with the lower end of a flushing tank by a conduit which also serves for evacuation of malodorous air prior to flushing. The valve which can be opened to admit flushing liquid into the bowl has a valving element at the lower end of a duct which communicates with the conduit and the upper end of which is located above the level of flushing liquid in the tank. The apparatus for evacuating malodorous air has a pipe which is installed in the duct and has an intake above the liquid level as well as an outlet extending through and outwardly from the bottom wall of the tank. An odor barrier in the tank can seal or establish a path for the flow of air from the bowl by way of the conduit and duct and into the intake of the pipe so that a fan which is installed at the outlet of the pipe can draw air from the pipe and convey it into a flue.

  • Patent number: 4880027
Abstract: The evacuation of foul smelling gases from the interior of a toilet bowl is effected by a fan which is driven by an electric motor and conveys the gases from the bowl through a control chamber in the flushing tank and into an evacuating conduit which is connected to the drain pipe. The motor is started in response to closing of a master switch which is distinct and preferably remote from an actuating knob which must be lifted or otherwise moved in order to enable a body of flushing liquid to flow from the tank into the bowl. A siphon is provided to permit liquid to flow from the interior of the control chamber into the interior of the flushing tank in response to rising pressure in the control chamber.

  • Patent number: 4800596
Abstract: A toilet has a toilet bowl and a flushing tank which accommodates a supply of flushing liquid for the bowl. The bowl, which discharges into a waste line, is connected to the flushing tank by a flushing pipe. A second pipe for evacuating odors from the bowl likewise leads from the bowl to the tank. This evacuating pipe has an open end in the bottom of the bowl and a second end in the tank. An air duct hooked into the waste line also extends into the tank and can be caused to communicate with the evacuating pipe when the toilet is in use. The air duct is provided with a blower which functions to convey odors from the bowl to the waste line via the evacuating pipe, flushing tank and air duct. A liquid seal cuts off communication between the air duct and evacuating pipe when the toilet is not in use to prevent backflow of odors from the waste line to the bowl. The liquid seal is located in the flushing tank and is established using the flushing liquid accommodated by the same.
