  • Patent number: 5733424
Abstract: An electrode for an electrochemical cell used in strip coating systems for continuous metal sheets has a plate-shaped electrode carrier, to which activated electrode components are connected mechanically in a detachable manner. The electrode carrier contains a metal core of material with good electrical conductivity, which, with the exception of the points where the activated electrode parts are connected, is surrounded by a jacketing of valve metal; on the side of the electrode carrier facing the cell wall, a corrosion- resistant plastic body in attached, against which the support means, the spring elements, the positioning elements, or the flow guide elements extending from the cell wall rest, these supports or elements thus being unable to cause any damage to the valve-metal jacketing of the electrode carrier.

  • Patent number: 4946571
Abstract: Electrodes for electrochemical treatment of metal strips, in particular for electrolytically coating metal strips, in which a plurality of spacer elements having an electrically insulating surface protrude from the electrode surface facing the strip to be treated during operation, are known. In order to devise an electrode that has a longer service life than known electrodes, the spacer elements are spacer rollers aligned in the same travel direction with respect to one another, and the roller diameter is between 20 and 60 mm.

  • Patent number: 4855032
Abstract: An electrode structure for membrane electrolysis cells comprises a planar electrode part which is joined by metal spacers to a sheet metal support serving as current distributor. The spacers are made in the form of a spring clip mounting comprising a spring part and a springless part, the spring part being fixedly joined to the support while the springless part is integral with the electrode part. In case of the need to reactivate or repair the active electrode parts the spring clip mounting permits them to be separated easily from their supports and then they can be sent away directly for reactivation or repair.

  • Patent number: 4447991
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for grinding, polishing etc. curved surfaces of non-metallic solids, in particular glass bodies using a tool adapted at least in part to the surface to be machined and which moves relatively to the body to be machined while being compressed. This tool elastically follows the solid to be machined, and flowable grinding and/or polishing means are continuously supplied to the work space between tool and solid. The apparatus includes a rotating disk for seating and fastening the solid, elastically displacable, rigid tool presses at least against one part of the surface of the solid. Preferably it is the solid which is rotated while the tool is spatially fixed in elastically displaceable manner and is kept compressed in places against the solid.

  • Patent number: 4088558
Abstract: A novel method of renewing electrode surfaces of metal electrodes with elongated supporting riser with at least the surface thereof being comprised of a valve metal or valve metal alloy supporting a generally planar electrode member with an electrocatalytic coating thereon.

  • Patent number: 4042082
Abstract: A device for receiving, from a fixed electric connection, adapting to length, and holding conductors for the electric current supply of movable consumers. The electric conductors are moved by way of at least one carriage in conformity with the movement of the consumer along a guiding path, especially for rotatable superstructures. The carriage which may be similar to a trolley is equipped with at least one spool box having at least one rotatably mounted and easily exchangeable winding mandrel which is provided with a slot extending transverse to the longitudinal axis of the mandrel for passing therethrough a flat cable adapted to wind itself up. When the pre-load of the flat cable is reduced, a tensioning force can be exerted by way of remote control upon the winding mandrel. The consumer connection is provided with entraining mechanism which serves as cable carrier and is guided in the manner of a carriage or trolley.
