  • Publication number: 20080006053
Abstract: A method of liquefying a hydrocarbon-rich gas, wherein the gas flows through a cascade of three refrigeration stages, each stage comprising a refrigerant circuit and a compressor, wherein at least part of the flow of refrigerant from the second circuit is used for the pre-cooling of the hydrocarbon rich gas in the first refrigeration stage. This balances the load on each of the compressors. By standardizing the drive units and compressors of the three coolant circuits, it is possible to maximize the attainable liquefaction capacity of the liquefaction process using tried-and-trusted drive units and compressors respectively. This method can be applied to mixed refrigerant cascades and circuits with a carbon dioxide pre-cooling circuit. This latter option has benefits for offshore use where large amounts of hydrocarbons are undesirable.

  • Patent number: 7267631
Abstract: An automatic transmission having a start-up clutch assembly includes a transmission housing, an input drive shaft, and an output drive shaft. An input planetary gear assembly is also included that has a sun gear and a ring gear, with a plurality of planet gears disposed therebetween, the ring gear operatively connected to the input drive shaft. A start-up clutch is operatively disposed between the transmission housing and the sun gear and is adapted to allow the sun gear to freely rotate when the start-up clutch is disengaged so that no torque is transferred. The start-up clutch is further adapted to engage and hold the sun gear stationary so that torque is fully transferred. The start-up clutch is further still adapted to provide a varying and controllable slipping interaction between the disengaged and engaged positions at vehicle start-up thereby providing the vehicle with a smooth transition from stationary to moving.

  • Patent number: 7171867
Abstract: A transmission system is provided utilizing multiple sets of clutch friction elements, each engaged to transfer torque from a torque input, such as an engine, to different gear ratios. The sets of clutch friction elements are operated simultaneously to provide a blended, gear ratio to a drivetrain. By varying the engagement of the clutch elements, and thus the proportion of the torque transferred to the gear ratio associated with each set of friction elements, an intermediate, effective gear ratio is developed. This effective gear ratio can be increased or decreased in response to external stimuli, such as vehicle and/or engine sensors, by modifying the degree of engagement of each set of clutch friction elements, and thus the proportion of torque transferred by each set of elements to its associated gear ratio.

  • Patent number: 7143882
Abstract: Disk (1, 11) for a force transmitting aggregate, in particular for wet disk clutch, with a core plate (2, 12) exhibiting a front side (V) and a backside (R), wherein the front side (V) and/or the backside (R) exhibits a friction lining (3v, 3r, 13v) which may be provided with grooves (4a, 4b, 5a, 5b, 5c, 14a, 14b, 15a, 15b, 15c). Alternatively thereto, it is envisioned in accordance with the invention that the cross-sectional area of the lining increases or decreases in the radial direction.

  • Publication number: 20050287024
Abstract: An air pump assembly includes a pump module having an outer surface and a casing at least partially surrounding the pump module. The casing has an inner surface defining a cavity sized to snugly receive the pump module such that the outer surface of the pump module is in substantial engagement with the inner surface of the casing and is substantially prevented from moving with respect to the casing when the pump module is received within the cavity. At least one airflow passageway is defined between the inner surface of the casing and the outer surface of the pump module. The airflow passageway is configured so that air flowing through the passageway changes direction at least one time to reduce the transmission of noise from the air pump assembly.

  • Publication number: 20050274260
Abstract: An oxidation-catalytic separation device for removing oil and volatile organic components from pressurized gases of a compression system has, proceeding from the inflow side of a tank which contains an oxidation catalyst, at least two chambers with different diameters and/or lengths. In this way, the chambers can also be matched to the desired main functions with respect to geometrical conditions, especially a first chamber with a smaller diameter being intended for aerosol separation, and a second chamber of greater diameter being intended for residual vapor catalysis. Even for variably operated compression systems, the pressurized gases can be reliably purified using this oxidation-catalytic separation device such that the required and desired degree of purity of a high-quality pressurized gas is obtained.

  • Publication number: 20050247199
Abstract: A process and device for separating oil and volatile organic components from pressurized gases of a compression system in which, before oxidation-catalytic separation, a physical separation is performed to protect the oxidation-catalytic separator against a large amount of oil being entrained in a surge in the pressurized gases. The resulting oil which has been separated in this physical oil separation is then fed back into the pressurized gas flow which is flowing to oxidation-catalytic separation in metered amounts. This results in the oil concentration in the pressurized gas entering the oxidation-catalytic separation means being maintained such that oxidation-catalytic separation can be carried out effectively and under optimum operating conditions without there being an adverse effect on operation by oil concentrations which are suddenly high for an instant.

  • Patent number: 6910562
Abstract: A torsional-vibration damper includes at least one primary element and a secondary element that can be coupled to each other by a spring device, are limited in movement in relation to each other about a rotational axis, and can be brought into frictional contact with each other by a friction device. The friction device has at least two friction-surface-carrying elements rubbing against each other to which a contact-pressure force, generated by a force-generating device, can be applied to produce a frictional engagement between the two elements. The force-generating device has a mechanical actuating mechanism for generating an actuating force and a hydraulic actuating mechanism for generating a counterforce, wherein the contact-pressure force is a vector sum of the actuating force and the counterforce.
