  • Patent number: 7653467
Abstract: A vehicle occupant protection system of a vehicle having a plurality of adaptive protection system components assigned to a seat in the vehicle, is preset using data relating to the individual occupant of the seat. The identity of the occupant is determined for at least one seat, and a stored safety profile which is assigned to the identified person is retrieved. • Publication number: 20090299576
Abstract: A motor vehicle preventive protection system comprises a plurality of safety devices which are actuated as a function of information from at least one vehicle surroundings detection device. The time remaining prior to a collision is determined when the information from the vehicle surroundings detection device represents an anticipated collision with a collision object. Associated activation times for at least two of the actuators assigned to the safety devices are stored and the time remaining prior to the collision is compared with the activation times. At least one safety device is activated if the time remaining prior to the collision is shorter than or equal to at least one of the activation times of the actuators.

  • Publication number: 20090008915
Abstract: A motor vehicle with an occupant restraint device, including a control device which produces a triggering signal when a predefined hazard signal is generated as a function of signals of a safety sensor system, and, accordingly, the occupant restraint vehicle acts on a vehicle occupant by at least one impact cushion. The control device generates the hazard signal at least as a function of vehicle acceleration signals and a belt state signal representing the activation or deactivation of a seat belt, deactivating the occupant restraint device at least for a certain period of time and/or activating the occupant restraint device at reduced power if the seat belt is identified as having been deactivated and vehicle acceleration signals are assigned to a critical forward displacement of the occupant if the seat belt is deactivated.

  • Publication number: 20080265555
Abstract: A belt tensioner for a safety-belt restraint system in a vehicle, which can be triggered in the event of a collision or the threat of a collision, includes a device for tensioning a safety belt that is restraining an occupant, by displacing part of the safety-belt restraint system. The belt tensioner has a drive for the displacing the part, which drive comprises a repeatedly chargeable spring-energy store, as well as a spring-energy store charging device for repeatably charging of the spring-energy store once it has been discharged. The spring-energy store charging device transmits to the spring-energy store for the purpose of charging it, a tensile force that is applied to the safety belt to unwind it from a belt winding device in the course of a fastening operation by the occupant.
