  • Patent number: 7298553
Abstract: The invention relates to an element for the combined symmetrization and homogenization of a beam of rays and to a method for designing an element of this type. One object of this invention is to propose an element and a corresponding design method by means of which a beam of rays with any desired intensity distribution is shaped from a beam of rays with an inhomogeneous intensity distribution. In particular, the intention is to transform a beam of rays with an elliptical intensity distribution into one with a different elliptical intensity distribution. For this purpose, the invention provides a phase element for the simultaneous circularization and homogenization of anisotropic intensities of electromagnetic waves.

  • Patent number: 4958811
Abstract: A hydraulically damping elastic bearing comprises an outer tubular member and an inner tubular member disposed radially inwardly of the outer tubular member to be separated therefrom. An elastic member is disposed between the inner and outer tubular members and has at least one chamber filled with a damping medium. At least one elastic radial stop is mounted to extend at least partially from the outer tubular member toward the inner tubular member. The elastic radial stop is disposed outside of and displaced from the chamber of the elastic member. Such an elastic radial stop may be resiliently deformed to produce a radial force on the inner tubular member and the outer tubular member by a wedge which is disposed between an extended end of the elastic radial stop and the inner tubular member. Alternatively, the extended end may be radially spaced from the inner tubular member by a predetermined radial distance and a different wedge may be disposed between the extended end and the inner tubular member.

  • Patent number: 4896867
Abstract: Hydraulically damping elastic bearing, in particular engine mounts for motor vehicles, with two rigid end walls opposite one another in the axial direction and at least two chambers containing damping fluid arranged axially one behind the other, whereby the chambers are connected for fluid communications with one another by a passage running in an annular fashion. For the variable modification of the length of the passage, partitions are inserted in the component containing the passage, which partitions divide the passage into individual passage segments connected for fluid communication with one another by an opening.

  • Patent number: 4842370
Abstract: An arrangement for modifying an information carrying radiant energy beam array in which occurrences of a first prescribed pattern of radiant energy beams in the array are detected by producing images of said beam array and shifting the images relative to each other responsive to a first prescribed pattern. The shifted images are superimposed and a radiant energy beam array is formed that identifies the occurrences of first prescribed patterns in the superimposed images. A plurality of images of the identifying beam array are produced and shifted relative to each other in accordance with a second prescribed pattern. The shifted images of said occurrence identifying beam array are superimposed to form the modified beam array. The modifications may comprise arithmetic processing, pattern or image processing or Turing machine type processing.

  • Patent number: 4781362
Abstract: Hydraulically damping elastic bearing with two rigid end walls opposite one another in the axial direction, and at least two chambers located one behind the other and containing damping fluid, at least one of which has a circumferential wall designed as an elastic spring element, whereby the chambers are separated from one another by a partition which is at least partly elastic exhibiting slits for an exchange of fluids. The elastic partition should thereby be designed so that when there is flow against the membrane from different chambers at the same pressure, a different pressure reduction is possible. For this purpose, the elastic partition is asymmetrical in cross section in relation to its center line, at least in the area of the slits, so that the opposite surfaces of the elastic partition are at different distances from the center plane in the area of a slit.

  • Patent number: 4697794
Abstract: A resilient mounting, such as a rubber mounting, with hydraulic damping, in particular for mounting engines of motor vehicles, has two rigid end walls which are disposed opposite to each other in the axial direction, and at least two chambers which are disposed axially one behind the other and which contain damping fluid. The chambers are separated by a rigid partitioning wall. The chambers communicate with each other through a flow passage which extends in an annular configuration around the axis of the mounting, the flow passage being formed in the rigid partitioning wall. The rigid partitioning wall is arranged radially inwardly of, and supported by, an elastic, axially movable diaphragm which is fixedly and sealingly clamped at its outer periphery. At least one of the chambers is defined in part by a rubber-elastic spring member constituting part of the generally peripheral wall of the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4671694
Abstract: The invention provides an elastic articulated coupling which comprises a relatively rigid inner member having a longitudinal axis, a relatively rigid outer member having a generally cylindrical interior of a predetermined first diameter surrounding said inner member with substantial clearance, and an elastomeric body located in the clearance between the inner and outer members. The elastomeric body is connected firmly to the inner member. Additionally, a sleeve comprising wear-resistant elastic material is firmly connected to the elastomeric body and disposed between the elastomeric body and the outer member. The elastomeric body and the sleeve together have a predetermined second diameter which is greater than the predetermined first diameter defined by the interior of the generally cylindrical outer member. As a result, the sleeve is connected in a non-positive manner with the interior surface of the outer member merely by radial pre-stressing and by axial bracing.

  • Patent number: 4378936
Abstract: An engine mounting for relatively heavy engines has a lower member (2) adapted to be secured to the vehicle chassis (3), and an upper member (7) which is connected to the engine, the upper and lower members being cooperatively associated together by way of at least one rubber shear spring member (6). In order to construct such an engine mounting, without a high level of expenditure, in such a way that it is also possible to damp low-frequency, high-amplitude oscillations and to avoid damping, and the resulting transmission of noise, in respect of high-frequency, low-amplitude oscillations, a hydraulically acting springing and damping device (12) is additionally arranged between the lower member (2) and the upper member (7) of the engine mounting (1).

  • Patent number: 4288063
Abstract: Elastic rubber engine mounts with hydraulic damping are provided, especially for engine suspensions in motor vehicles. The mounts comprise two separated liquid-filled chambers, defined in part by elastic rubber-like peripheral walls adheringly connected with end walls and with a centrally disposed supporting element for connection to an engine supporting frame. The liquid chambers are separated by an elastic rubber-like partition connected with the supporting element, and flow connection between the two chambers is provided by perforations or choke openings in the partition. The rigid end walls of the two chambers are rigidly interconnected. Arrangements are provided for minimizing or avoiding hydraulic damping of oscillations of low amplitude and high frequency, while providing hydraulic damping for oscillations of large amplitude and low frequency.

  • Patent number: 4161304
Abstract: A rubber elastic engine mount with hydraulic damping, especially for motor vehicles, includes an elastic peripheral wall on the engine side joined with a metallic end wall that can be connected with an engine casing, and joined also with a metallic supporting element that can be connected to an engine supporting frame. The elastic wall together with the end walls forms a liquid-filled main chamber which is closed off by a partition connected with the supporting element, and which is connected with an auxiliary liquid-filled elastic walled chamber on the other side of the partition. The auxiliary chamber may be constructed generally the same as the main chamber, including an elastic peripheral wall joined with the supporting element and with a metallic end wall relatively away from the engine. The two end walls are rigidly connected. The peripheral walls function as thrust springs. The partition may be rigid and stationary, or it may be movable.
