  • Patent number: 6829424
Abstract: The invention relates to a cable closure for optical-fiber cables, preferably optical-fiber minicables or optical-fiber microcables, with cable lead-in units, which are arranged perpendicularly with respect to the axis of the closure body, and it is possible for the closure to be fitted vertically into a core hole made into the earth or into road surfacings. On account of laid-in excess lengths of optical waveguide, splice organizers in the interior of the closure body can be taken out upwards for service work. Preferably, the excess lengths of optical waveguide are carried in a protective tube, which is deposited in a plurality of loops in the interior of the closure.

  • Patent number: 6584254
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for securing cables or elongate hollow sections in duct or pipe systems for flowing media, and a cable network in a duct or pipe system. The cable or elongate hollow section to be laid is anchored by high-tensile-strength elements between anchoring points. The high-tensile-strength element may be a separate element or an element incorporated in the cable sheath or in the hollow section. Furthermore, the invention concerns the reduction of sags.

  • Patent number: 6546183
Abstract: To protect a waveguide or cable in an installation channel, a protective profile is inserted into the channel and has a substantially U-shaped cross-section when installed. To install this in the channel, an apparatus having a drum with a profile wound thereon has the profile unwound and guided by guide rolls to a press roll, which presses the profile into the channel to the desired depth. The profile can have a center portion provided with embedded reinforcing elements or even optical or electrical leads.

  • Patent number: 6377734
Abstract: A cable network in a duct or pipe system for flowing media has a cable anchored by high-tensile-strength elements between anchoring points in the duct or pipe system. The high-tensile-strength element may be a separate element on which the cable is attached or an element incorporated in the cable sheath. The method includes providing anchoring elements on the interior of the ducts or pipes of the system, and either securing a cable with a high-tensile-strength element to the anchoring elements or securing the high-tensile-strength element to the anchoring elements and then fastening the cable to the tension element.

  • Patent number: 6130982
Abstract: A cable sleeve for light waveguides is constructed as a flat plate member in which a circular groove extends and has inlets extending tangentially from the groove. The cable sleeve can receive excess lengths of the cable as well as splices which excess lengths and splices are received in the circular groove.

  • Patent number: 6088900
Abstract: A method for cutting an outer cladding or tube of a light waveguide cable to form a gap includes removing material on the opposite lateral portions of the outer cladding to produce flattened areas, forming an annular cut on each end of the flattened area and then splitting the cladding in the flattened areas to enable removal of the portion. To accomplish the production of the flattened areas, a milling unit having guide rollers for the cladding and a pair of milling wheels engaging opposite sides of a cladding of a cable held in the guide rollers is used.

  • Patent number: 5879109
Abstract: A process and apparatus for introducing a cable into a channel, which is formed into a heated surface of solid ground, such as asphalt, displaces the material to form a channel, inserts the cable and then reintroduces the displaced material back into the channel to refill the channel.

  • Patent number: 5031996
Abstract: An optical transmission element that has an oil-containing filling compound and inside is provided with a two-layer outside sheath. The inside layer of the sheath is composed of a polyolefin and the outside layer is composed of a polyester, particularly of a polycarbonate. The shrinkage and swelling of the inside layer is largely compensated by the hard outside layer and the swelling portion, which usually appear at higher temperature, are kept extremely low.
