  • Publication number: 20050224375
Abstract: A cigarette pack of the hinge-lid-box type is provided with predominantly or fully rounded side walls (19, 20) and lid side walls (24, 25). The side walls here are made up of a plurality of rounded regions with different radii, and also with a planar central side strip.

  • Publication number: 20050218200
Abstract: A hinge-lid box for cigarettes is designed such that box side walls (18, 19), and lid side walls (23, 24) comprise two sections which are directed at an angle in relation to one another, that is to say are designed in an approximately roof-shaped manner. The cross section of the pack is shaped in adaptation to the pack contents, namely to a cigarette group in which a central row has a larger number of cigarettes than the two outer rows.

  • Publication number: 20050164858
Abstract: For the production of (cigarette) packs of different configurations, for example standard pack (13), round-edged pack (14) or octagonal pack (15), subassemblies and elements of the packaging machine are exchanged and/or uncoupled from the drive. For this purpose, a pack-specific operating element is provided with a drive which has a coupling and/or uncouplable gear-mechanism parts. These, in turn, are assigned operable handling elements which allow adjustment for coupling or uncoupling or removing sub-elements.

  • Publication number: 20050145259
Abstract: A production and packaging installation with a control arrangement (33) and production units having respectively adjustable mechanisms, such as, a (cigarette-) production machine (maker 10), a packaging machine (packer 11), possibly a film-wrapping machine (12), possibly a multipacker (13) and possibly a carton packer (cartoner 14), for the production and ready-to-dispatch packaging of, in the first instance, products—cigarettes and cigarette packs—of a first type and, thereafter, products of a second type each comprising starting materials, such as paper blanks, film and the like, and also specifies the control arrangement itself and a method of controlling the line, it being the case that at least a first set of parameters (61) associated with products of the first type and a second set of parameters (62) associated with products of the second type are stored in a selectable manner in a memory of the control arrangement (33) and, upon selection of a set of parameters (61, 62), a manipulated variable for adj

  • Patent number: 6914671
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for the inspection of objects, such as cigarette packs (10), with respect to the proper positioning of blanks placed upon them, such as band strips (12), by means of an inspection means (39). Known inspection means have the disadvantage that they are very expensive. The invention provides a cost-efficient alternative. To this end, blanks are illuminated laterally at one or more border edges (22) while the inspection means (39) scans the blank (12) at an essentially frontal aspect.

  • Patent number: 6878224
Abstract: Process for producing (cigarette) packs from blanks which are drawn off from a continuous material web wound as a reel, regions of glue arranged on both sides of the material web serving for connecting folding tabs. The regions of glue are positioned in different lines of the material web such that, in the would state, regions of glue on one side of the material web do not overlap with regions of glue on the other side.

  • Publication number: 20050022470
Abstract: Transponders are used for identifying objects such as packaging, packaging material or machines and machine elements and are attached to the object to be identified. The transponders contain data which are provided by an electronic write unit and which can be recognized by a read unit. The transponders are provided in a concealed manner on the machines, machine parts, etc. or are embedded in the machine part, for example, inside a recess.

  • Patent number: 6843041
Abstract: Hinge-lid boxes for cigarettes, comprising a box part (12) and lid (13), are frequently fitted with a closure aid for the lid (13). Said closure aid comprises interlocking elements which can be brought into engagement with one another, namely a lid inner tab (16), on the one hand, and a collar front wall (17), on the other hand. In order to ensure operativeness as soon as the pack is used, it is ensured that the closure aid is already in engagement when the pack is completed, i.e. before it is used for the first time. For this purpose, the lid (13) is partially opened after being substantially completed and is then moved into the closed position again thereby ensuring engagement of the closing elements.

  • Publication number: 20040261368
Abstract: For producing hard packs, namely hinge-lid boxes or shell and slide packs in particular, inner and outer pack units are prepared separately in each case, namely a shell (20), on the one hand, and a blank for a hinge-lid box, on the other hand. The inner pack unit, comprising a cigarette block (10) and a further pack part, namely a slide (13) or a collar, is prepared in the region of a mandrel turret (24). The pack units are then brought together, with continued rotary movement, by axial displacement relative to one another.

  • Publication number: 20040255963
Abstract: In the production of filter-tipped cigarettes (25), an apparatus (filter attachment machine) is used, which consists of a main cylinder (10) and a plurality of assigned further cylinders. The elements of the filter-tipped cigarettes (25), specifically a tobacco rod (15) or part-rods (16, 17), filter pieces (21), cigarette units (23), and the filter-tipped cigarettes (25) produced therefrom are transported by the main cylinder (10), with the exception that part-rods (16, 17) displaced at a distance from one another and with a filter piece (21) inserted for the attachment of a wrapping paper (22) are transported and connected to one another outside the main cylinder (10), so that one-piece cigarette units (23) are returned to the main cylinder (10).

  • Publication number: 20040250513
Abstract: In order to produce (cigarette) packs with an insert blank (25) applied within the pack or to the outside of the latter, this insert blank is fixed temporarily by virtue of the pack or pack contents being electrostatically charged in the region of the insert blank (25). The pack is completed while the static charge is active, with the result that, by way of pack blanks, the insert coupon (25) is fixed in the envisaged position by the pack itself.

  • Publication number: 20040164483
Abstract: For producing (cigarettes) packs (10) with a coupon positioned between the pack and outer wrapper made of film, the coupons are supplied to a packaging machine for the outer wrapper and are transported in the region of the packaging machine by a coupon conveyor (17). The coupons pass into the region of a feeder (20) and are applied by the latter to a free top side (13) of the packs.

  • Publication number: 20040159395
Abstract: For producing folded printing carriers—folding coupons (10)—use is made of an apparatus which is designed as a unit and in the case of which a continuous material web (11) is provided with regions of hot-melt glue. Blanks (25) are cut off from the material web (11) prepared in this way and are fed to a folding subassembly (26) in order to be folded transversely a number of times. Following the folding subassembly (26), the folding coupons (10) are subjected to the action of heat and pressure by a handling arrangement (34).

  • Publication number: 20040148908
Abstract: The invention provides a process for checking rod-like articles, in particular cigarettes (12), and an apparatus which is suitable for carrying out the process, a moveable testing element (20) with mounted push rods (21) displaceable in the axial direction being moved in the direction of the articles and the or each push rod (21) being deflected as it strikes against an article and an electrically evaluable signal—actuating signal (31)—being generated as a result and, upon generation of the actuating signal (31), the position of the testing element (20) is determined and the determined position is evaluated

  • Patent number: 6751934
Abstract: In the production and packaging of cigarettes, the procedure for carrying out a product changeover is such that the entire production and packaging installation is largely emptied. In the region of a film packer (16) and of a following multipacker (17), subassemblies for producing web connections (splice) are controlled such that a last cigarette pack of the old configuration is assigned to a last cigarette multipack (24) and this is then separated out.
