  • Patent number: 6352956
Abstract: A powder comprises a mixture of up to 40 weight percent activated cokes and inert materials. In the mixture, at least one of the inert material components is matched in terms of its grain size distribution to the grain size distribution of the activated coke component so that in a gas medium at rest, the speed of vertical descent of the coarse grain of the inert material component is substantially equal to the speed of vertical descent of the coarse grain of the activated coke component.

Date of Patent: March 5, 2002
Assignee: Rheinkalk GmbH & Co. KG
Inventors: Ekkehard Kienow, Bernd Morun, Thomas Schwertmann, Heinz Hoberg
  • Patent number: 6216967
Abstract: A process is disclosed for disaggregating waste materials which contain at least partially reusable elements, mainly metals, plastics and cardboard. The waste materials are stirred in water by mechanical forces, large pieces, in particular plastic pieces, are coarsely crushed and soluble elements, in particular cardboard, are dissolved. The metallic elements are separated from the suspension as heavy materials, the remaining coarse solids, in particular plastics, are mechanically separated from the suspension, and the suspended fine solids are separated from the suspension by dewatering.

  • Patent number: 5175381
Abstract: A method for recovering halogenated hydrocarbons (FCH) from synthetic foams wherein halogenated hydrocarbons (FCH) are released from synthetic foam in a hermetically sealed processing chamber and transferred to a gaseous carrier medium of steam. The steam/FCH mixture is removed from the processing chamber and subjected to condensation to remove pure FCH from the condensed water.

  • Patent number: 4233559
Abstract: Conventionally, the concentration of a polar component in an otherwise non-polar or negligibly polar material, e.g., water content in pourable coal, is ascertained by measuring the attenuation of electromagnetic waves transmitted through a layer-thin sample of the material, the waves having a frequency as near as possible to the maximum-dipole-relaxation-loss frequency f.sub.o, in order to maximize the power-loss effect of the transmitted waves, this being directly attributable to the polar component, and thereby serving to accentuate the effect of the polar component in the measurement signal.

    Assignee: Bergwerksverband GmbH
    Inventors: Heinz Hoberg, Albert Klein
  • Patent number: 4043513
Abstract: Refuse, particularly of the household type, is sorted according to density by the following consecutive operations: Sifting the refuse; comminuting the oversize obtained; separating the comminuted material by a gas stream into light and heavy material fractions; separating the heavy material fraction by a liquid stream into two fractions of different density; and separating the two fractions of different density into basic components.
