  • Publication number: 20030041530
Abstract: There is now provided a building having a pitched, sculptured tile roof with a ridge extending atop the pitched, sculptured tile roof, with a pitched tile roof venting arrangement disposed at the ridge. The building has walls to support a roof having a ridge beam, roof rafters, and battens that support roofing tiles. The roof also has a row of ridge tiles disposed on said ridge beam. A venting arrangement is disposed atop the ridge beam, between the ridge tiles and the roofing tiles. The venting arrangement has a center strip that is placed onto the ridge beam, and two side strips that cover a portion of adjacent uppermost roofing tiles. The side strips have air venting openings for the passage of air from beneath the roof to the outside of the roof. The air venting openings are covered by cover bands which cover bands permit passage of air to flow therethrough and prevent rain or drift snow to readily penetrate through the air venting openings.

  • Patent number: 6258439
Abstract: A covering material which can be plastically deformed by band and extended in at least one direction. The covering material has a substrate with openings, at least the top side of which substrate has a top coating which covers the openings. To create an economical covering material for covering the gap between a planar surface and a structured surface, in particular a highly structured roof surface, the covering material can be extended in at least one direction more than 30%, can be bent perpendicular to the direction of extension, and the entire surface of which covering material can be permanently and plastically deformed in three dimensions. The top coating is of a thin flat stock and that the coated substrate is, at least in the direction opposite the direction of extension, compressed, crepe-like, by at least 25% of its original length so that the surface of the covering material exhibits irregular little corrugations.

  • Patent number: 6204399
Abstract: Process and arrangement for producing tetrahydrofuran from a hydrous butane diol solution contaminated by light volatile, organic compounds, comprising the following process stages: a) Distillative removal (K1) of the light volatile, organic compounds contained in the hydrous butane diol solution 1. b) Dehydrating (R) of the thus prepurified hydrous butane diol solution 3 over an acidic aluminum oxide catalyst. c) One-step or multi-step distillation (K2) of the thus obtained high-tetrahydrofuran fraction 8 for obtaining a pure tetrahydrofuran. In addition, a separation of the water from the hydrous butane diol solution to water contents of from 2 to 70% by weight, particularly 2 to 10% by weight, can take place before the dehydrating of the butane diol.

  • Patent number: 6119832
Abstract: A pneumatic movement damper has a cylinder closed on one side, a piston that slides within the cylinder and is connected to a piston rod, a packing mounted on the piston and a throttle passage arranged in the piston for connecting the two cylinder spaces separated by the piston and the packing. The piston has a conical seat that widens away from the piston rod and a flange part adjacent to the largest diameter of the conical seat. The packing has a truncated recess that matches the conical seat and can move within limits in the axial direction between the flange part and a ring-shaped flange arranged on the piston rod at an axial distance from the flange part. Radial grooves are provided in the faces of the flange part and ring-shaped flange normal to the axis of the cylinder and oriented towards the packing. The groove provided in the flange part has a smaller cross-section than the groove arranged in the ring-shaped flange and forms the throttle passage.

  • Patent number: 6102606
Abstract: An unthreaded attachment of a joint eye to the piston rod of a vibration damper or spring strut, particularly by resistance welding. The piston rod and joint eye are held by one clamp electrode each, and the axial force created during welding is absorbed by a stop. A positive-locking connection is arranged between the piston rod and the clamp electrode to achieve axial fixing, so that joint eye can be attached in any installation state of the damper, even when the vibration damper is already installed.

  • Patent number: 5524871
Abstract: Process for the filling of a piston-cylinder unit, for example a shock absorber, with compressed gas and for closing the gas chamber of the piston-cylinder unit with a sealing element in the form of a base. The piston-cylinder unit is placed in an apparatus which apparatus can be connected to a compressed gas source from which the gas chamber is filled. The base is inserted by the apparatus into the open end of the piston-cylinder unit, after which the piston-cylinder unit, now under pressure and closed off by the base, is closed by, the process of welding.

  • Patent number: 5053266
Abstract: A roof tile construction includes a ventilation tile having pliable portions provided by a membrane of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) which is readily deformable to complement the shapes and configurations of adjacent roof tiles, whereby gaps between the headlap, side-lock and tail portions of tiles immediately adjacent the ventilation tile are substantially closed. The ventilation tile also includes a rigid body portion for supporting the membrane, the body portion being generally of planar configuration and being provided with adapter means for accommodating ventilation means such as a ventilation cap, or a soil pipe. The membrane is also of generally planar configuration and includes a headlap portion, oppositely disposed side-lock portions and a tail portion which extends beyond the rigid body portion.
