Abstract: An apparatus for supplying a stack of carton blanks from a pallet to the magazine of a carton-packing machine in which the carton blanks are arranged vertically adjacent to each other, in particular for the tobacco industry, comprises an unloading carriage which is pivotable about a horizontal axis from a substantially vertical position into a substantially horizontal position and has an unloading fork which is movable along the unloading carriage and the prongs of which in the vertical position of the unloading carriage and thus in the horizontal position of the unloading fork can be inserted beneath the stack into the gaps between the boards at the upper side of the pallet.

Abstract: A device for lifting at least one material stack from a support, in particular a stack of blanks from an intermediate support or bottom support in the tobacco industry, comprises the following features: a gripper is guided freely movable in all directions by an industrial robot; the gripper comprises at least one clamping element which is displaceable in the vertical direction and adapted to be placed on the or each stack, at least one elastically deformable finger insertable between the stack and the intermediate or bottom support as well as sensors for detecting the distance between the gripper and the stack; a control circuit including at least one logic unit evaluates and processes the output signals of the sensors and controls the movement of the gripper from a predetermined starting position into the lifting position, the clamping of a stack between a finger and a clamping element, and the subsequent lifting and the carrying away of the or each stack.

Abstract: A sealing arrangement for the temporary attachment of a testing air line to the end of a cigarette has an essentially hollow cylindrical sealing body with flanges projecting radially to the inside and outside of the sealing end. The other end of the sealing body is held firmly. The outside edge of the outwardly projecting flange of the sealing body is inserted into a coaxial annular groove of the bore of a supporting body movable axially toward the held end to elastically deform the sealing body, permitting insertion or removal of the cigarette. In its undeformed state the sealing body seals against the cigarette end.
