  • Patent number: 4831864
Abstract: In a forging machine, each ram is the piston or cylinder of a piston-cylinder hydraulic unit and the other component of the unit is attached to the forging machine frame and can be moved to adjust the ram stroke position. The piston or cylinder which constitutes the ram is guided directly in the machine frame to minimize play in the guidance of the ram component.

Date of Patent: May 23, 1989
    Assignee: SMS Hasenclever Machinenfabrik GmbH
Inventors: Heinz Schmoll, Hans A. Schubert, Klaus Schulze
  • Patent number: 4796456
Abstract: In a forging machine which has four radial rams with respective tools together forming a closed bite, each tool overlaps one adjacent tool and is overlapped by the other adjacent tool, and can be adjusted laterally relative to the radial ram axis, in the operating plane of the rams and tools, for setting the bite size.

  • Patent number: 4442694
Abstract: A floor-mounted forging press has a static piston arranged on the top beam and a cylinder which slides on the piston and forms a toolholder, and a bore extending through the piston for supplying pressure medium to the cylinder. The piston is hollow and is swivelly mounted by means of ball cups at the lower end of the piston and on the top beam and a thrust bearing member between the ball cups, the piston being held in the vertical position on the top beam with the aid of retaining means. One form of retaining means is a partially resilient pressure medium pipe which holds the piston. Alternatively pins, mounted by means of spherical surfaces, suspend the piston by way of a flange on the piston and are resiliently biased to hold the piston against the top beam in a free-play, resilient and freely movable manner, a bore being provided through the ball cups and thrust bearing member.

  • Patent number: 3973595
Abstract: A hydraulic interlock arrangement for ensuring that an inlet valve is closed before a discharge valve is opened, and vice versa, each inlet or discharge valve having a hydraulic piston-cylinder unit for actuating the same, a hydraulic pilot valve for operating the piston-cylinder unit and a blocking member for preventing actuation of the pilot valve, the first blocking member being connected to the pressure chamber of the second piston-cylinder unit, and vice versa, so that when the pressure chamber in one piston-cylinder unit is under pressure, the pilot valve of the other piston-cylinder unit cannot be actuated.
