  • Patent number: 6478915
Abstract: A method of sealing body parts such as an edge fold of a motor vehicle component, for example a door, a rear or front flap or a sliding roof panel, includes a two-step pre-cross-linking of the sealing composition in the rough body part. In a first step the surface of a UV-active sealing composition is pre-cross-linked by UV irradiation, and in a second step immediately following, the edge fold adhesive and the sealing composition are hardened by thermal action. The edge-sealed body parts produced by the method are transportable and are of visually and functionally satisfactory quality after passing through cleaning baths and after thermal hardening in a KTL kiln. Since the sealing is carried out in the rough body part rather than during the coating process, the method provides a substantial potential cost saving.

  • Patent number: 5131593
Abstract: The splicing of webs of packaging material delivered via a pair of individual feed zones into a common feed zone is accomplished through the use of a pair of cooperating change-over rollers located at the start of the common feed zone. A clamping device is provided for each web and the change-over rollers are provided with projections which cause the leading end of one web to be pinched against the other web to cause the two webs to be spliced together, the other web being subsequently severed at a point immediately upstream of the splice. The clamping devices, change-over rollers and severing devices may all be caused to operate automatically in the proper sequence.

  • Patent number: 4354531
Abstract: This invention relates to a rotation dobby having a key coupling between a drive shaft and an eccentric device for the movement of the heddles, the key being mounted under spring action in a radially extending recess in an eccentric disk arranged in a crank arm and being engageable and disengageable in accordance with a pattern into and out of an axially extending groove of the drive shaft at two diametrically opposite coupling places by means of a shift rod which can be controlled in accordance with a pattern and engages via a coupling member into a groove of the key which is open in the axial direction of the drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 4324813
Abstract: An arrangement for curing, by electron beam irradiation, a lacquer coating carried on an article having a complex configuration. The arrangement includes an assembly formed of an electron accelerator for obtaining highly accelerated, high-energy electrons and a scanner for forming, from the electrons, a spread-out electron beam directed onto the article through an electron outlet window. The article has a first surface position inaccessible to direct electron beam radiation and a second surface portion arranged at an oblique angle with respect to the direction of the direct electron beam radiation and exposed to the direct electron beam radiation. The second surface portion is further oriented towards the first surface portion, whereby one part of the electrons impinging on the second surface portion is reflected therefrom onto the first surface portion.
