Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for comparing aspects of a user interface. In some implementations there is provided a method. The method including receiving data from a first business object and a second business object; generating a single user interface to include a first data field and a second data field, the first and second data fields having the same context; and inserting from the data from the first business object and the second business object into the first and second data fields having the same context to enable comparison of the data. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also provided.

Abstract: Methods and systems of the present disclosure provide techniques to improve the display of and merge the results of one or more searches of a computer document in a simple, user-controlled manner. One method involves receiving a query, and searching files to identify any matches to the query. Another method involves visually marking the matches on the display so that the matches can be easily compared to the matches of subsequent queries. A method is also provided in which a user can pin the results of one query to a viewing pane of the display so that the results can be easily compared to the results of subsequent queries.

One computer-implemented method includes determining a connection type and initial visual settings for a connection associated with a graphical mapping, for the connection type: define one or more visual appearance functions to change the connection's visual appearance based upon the configuration of an adjustment mechanism and define a Z-order function to determine the Z-order of the connection type in relation to other connection types, determining that the adjustment mechanism configuration has been changed, and adjusting the connection, by operation of a computer, according to a value of the one or more visual appearance functions based on a value of the adjustment mechanism configuration.

Abstract: A method of handling different languages in an object, such as a business object includes receiving a language selection indication within a business object instance interface. Data within the business object is displayed for at least one data field in the selected language. Edited data for at least one data field within the business object is received, and other language versions of the edited data in the at least one data field may be modified.

In response to the receipt of a first input received by the computer system, a second view is displayed on the display device. The temporary communication area has a defined function associated therewith requiring input from a user. The temporary communication area may close after the user provides the necessary input and the defined function is performed.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implement techniques for rendering application user interfaces. Application data is displayed in user interface elements including two or more independent elements and one or more dependent elements. One of the independent elements can have the property of being the selected element and the application data displayed in the dependent elements is made to correspond to the application data displayed in the selected element. User input is received from a user to establish a normal mode or a decoupled mode of user interface operation. Navigation input is received to navigate from one user interface element to another user interface element. In the normal mode, navigation to an independent element causes the independent element to become the selected element. In the decoupled mode, navigation to an independent element does not change which, if any, of the independent elements is the selected element.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for interacting with a user entering information for a computer application. In one general aspect, the invention provides for displaying a pane as a user interface for a user to enter information in a sequence of steps. The pane includes an information entry area, an interactive first step symbol capable of initiating a first step in the sequence, and a first indicator placed after the first step symbol. The first indicator indicates that a selection of a step to follow the first step depends on information received in the first step. A second step is selected to follow the first step using information received in the first step, and the first indicator is removed. An interactive second step symbol capable of initiating the second step is placed after the first step symbol.

Abstract: A method of supporting a user in entering information in an input field includes receiving a string that a user enters under guidance of an input field in a graphical user interface (GUI) in a computer system, the GUI being associated with creating an instance of a first object. There is identified, among several objects in the computer system, a second object with which the first object is associated, the second object being identified using an association between the first object and the second object that is associated with the input field. The method further includes performing a query associated with the second object among instances of the second object, the query being performed using the string to determine an entry that is to be displayed in the input field and that represents information to be included in the instance upon creation.

In one general aspect, a first view is displayed on the display device, where the first view has a plurality of objects in a first format and a first object control mechanism. An input is received to minimize the first view, and in response thereto a second view is displayed on the display device. The second view includes a second object control mechanism and one or more objects that are a subset of the plurality of objects in a second format. The second view may include, from the objects displayed in the first view, only those objects contained in the subset of the plurality of objects.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to providing access to database objects. A first view displays first and second database access mechanisms. The first database access mechanism includes at least one database access pattern including a predefined search of the database. The second database access mechanism includes at least one selection function and an input function, for searching a selected subset of the database for objects having an input value. The second database access mechanism is also capable of adding a database access pattern to the first database access mechanism. A third database access mechanism comprises an attribute choice and an input field to search for database objects having the input value associated with a chosen attribute.
