  • Patent number: 5111684
Abstract: A method and apparatus for leak testing a sealed package having at least one flexible wall portion and a sealed flange wherein at least one flexible wall portion of the package spaced from at least a seal-exposing edge of the sealed flange is gripped and pulled outwardly from the package to stress the package in tension while at least the seal-exposing edge of the sealed flange is exposed to a gas pressure equal to or greater than atmospheric pressure. The reaction of the sealed package to the stressing is then detected. The method and apparatus are useful for testing retort or aseptic pouches, cups and multi-layered trays with heat sealed lids, etc., with or without head space. Leaks in the seal and also in areas adjacent the seal can advantageously be detected quickly and with a high degree of reliability.

  • Patent number: 4933436
Abstract: Azo dyes are obtained by diazotizing an aromatic amine and combining the resulting diazonium salt solution with a sulpho-containing coupling component when the sole acid donor used for the diazotization reaction--instead of the otherwise customary mineral or fatty acids--is a low molecular weight, nonsurfactantlike aromatic sulphonic acid.

  • Patent number: 4753565
Abstract: The container communicates through an outlet, which is adapted to be closed with a lock chamber, which is adapted to be emptied and is provided with a pressure-relief valve. When it is desired to empty the lock chamber the volume which is available in the lock chamber for the gas is initially increased so that the pressure in the lock chamber is reduced. Thereafter the lock chamber is opened.

  • Patent number: 4725636
Abstract: In the production of elasthane threads by solution spinning of polyurea polyurethanes by conventional spinning processes, excellent stabilization against light and noxious gases are obtained if at least one component of the system to be spun contains tertiary amino groups and the substances used as antioxidizing agents are phenols of the kind which do not form colored nitro compounds.

  • Patent number: 4671664
Abstract: A photometer includes a radiation source, a measuring chamber and a receiver, all arranged in a casing and through coupling-decoupling members definite temperature gradients are produced between the measuring chamber and the receiver-transmitter and other gradients through appropriate coupling members are established towards the cooled housing.

  • Patent number: 4643739
Abstract: The reactor for the gasification of the fuel in a fixed bed comprises a rotary distributor, which is disposed over the fixed bed and includes at least one outlet structure for the fuel. The outlet structure consists of a tube, which is formed at its lower end with two arcuate cutouts through which the fuel flows out approximately at right angles to the direction of movement of the tube. Each cutout lies in a plane which includes an angle of about 25.degree. to 50.degree. with the horizontal. The outlet end of the tube has preferably the same elevation on the leading and trailing sides of the tube.

  • Patent number: 4559972
Abstract: The valve comprises a rotary valve member, which serves to close the inlet port. A pivoted valve arm, which extends from the rotary valve member, and a pivoted link, which engages said valve arm, ensure that a valve disc moves in unison with the rotary valve member to a position in which the valve disc effects a pressure-tight closing of the outlet port. The valve is preferably mounted on a reactor for gasifying solid fuels under a pressure of 2 to 150 bars, particularly on the ash discharge side.

  • Patent number: 4435181
Abstract: The present disclosure is concerned with storage stable concentrated fluid aqueous dispersions of water soluble cold dyeing fiber reactive dyes. These dispersions contain anionic or polyvinyl dispersants to provide resistance against settling or agglomeration and water soluble electrolytes to provide resistance against hydrolysis of the fiber reactive groups. The dispersions have an average particle size of less than 100 microns and in a preferred embodiment sufficient buffering agent to stabilize the pH at between about 5 and 8.
